  2. Apparently, we need to add a provision to the stimulus bill to help pay off the back taxes owed by our politicians...

You want to claim to be objective yet you spout out obvious hyperbole: Iraq did not cost 3-4 trillion and did not kill more than Hussein, not even close.

The problem I have with liberals is that they see this as an opportunity to expand the welfare state and increase their dependents, which has nothing to do with expanding the economy. They want to use the stimulus to advance their leftist goals.

"Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before."
-Rahm Emmanuel - White House Chief Of Staff

The reason I choose the republicans over the liberals (not democrats, liberal democrats) is that at least their crap still leaves liberty and some possibility for a prosperous future. The end goal of socialism is a proven economic dead end, but socialists don't really care as they are mad at someone and want their justice.

piezoe again illustrates the choices between liberty and leftism.

The power of the left will always be derived from claiming that they 'care more about the ordinary person'. Lenin, Chavez, Pelosi, Obama, right on down line all claim the same moral high ground. The problem is that this is just a vehicle for control and ends up hurting the majority.

Pretending they can end human suffering and cyclical economic hard times by forcing people to share is folly, but they probably know it. The left trend is increasing government control whether by regulation, taxing, or outright ownership. Command and control economies are proven losers, however in the psychology of the left that's ok because we will all be poor together. The stimulus's combination of social welfare increases and targeted investments run a small chance of accomplishing anything but increasing liberal power.

Personally I'll take the depression and gated communities because at least we know we can prosper again someday. Take your pick- either you can live in fear of a leftist government or poor people. Both will point a gun at you.
