What's the surprise? I don't get you. Not everyone is equal. Some are born rich, some a born poor. Some countries are poor, some are well developed. Some race are dark skinned, some are light. A man's brain has more mass than a woman's brain. so on and so forth. Only 2.7 percent of Michelin-starred restaurants are run by women in France. Only 4.7% of chefs in the United States are women. My point is people are different based on their demographics or genetics or race or gender, etc.
No I did not. Read my posts again. I never mentioned genetics as far as I remember. Not in the past couple pages, but am happy to stand corrected. It does not matter whether it's genetics or environmental. Asian parents would sell their house if that was necessary to provide proper education for their child. Blacks would not. On average. Call it environmental if that makes you feel happier. Makes zero difference. Blacks underperform in almost every academic discipline, they commit disproportionately the most crimes, it's not just bad cops why more blacks (proportionately) are incarcerated than any other race. There are certain things going on that make blacks less ambitious on average to work hard to compete and get ahead in life. ON AVERAGE. And stop bullshitting around with criticism of the bell curve. Ridiculous. You are the lawyer here. I am the quant. Please don't school me about distributions. Laughable.
Overall I agree but the differences are not as pronounced if it was a world of equal opportunities. It's not in many areas. What the PC police, however, denies is that even given equal opportunities the differences still show as statistically significant. I don't know where some in this world get the idea that every race and sex must be equally good in every discipline.
Wait so last 50 years of academic testing....there was quite a bit of institutional racism in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Heck Blacks were not even allowed in the same schools until the Supreme Court stepped in in 1954. The Jim Crow educational divide continued for another 20 years at least and you are going to claim they are stupid despite having not even 50% of the same access and resources historically in general that whites had. Deny them equal education, equal access to employment and you expect the children to just out of nowhere take AP classes, ace the SAT and knock out standardized tests like white kids raised in the 70s. It reminds me of South Africa when apartheid lifted the Afrikaans claiming as proof how inferior the people they called Coloured were in jobs and schools. Uh...you drove them into shanty towns and outlawed equal education and job opportunities and you finally free them and wonder why in one generation they are not pouring out of universities with engineering degrees and working at the highest level of corporations. Better comparison is current generation South Africans v. Afrikaans. The gap has been narrowed considerable due to huge efforts to remove barriers and limitations. Statistics are not proof of anything without looking at the facts underlying the data.
2019 - 50 = 1969. It's not that hard Ocho. Every poor kid in the Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan, India can take the Sat. You don't need a tutor, no cram school. No teacher. You can simply study and prepare on your own. So can every last black child in America. Your suggestions are first of all bogus and secondly you are referring to a totally different Era. If anything, blacks have the easiest access to education today. Harvard and many other top schools provide free tuition and heavily discounted tuition for those with financial difficulties. Yet blacks still don't get in not in the top schools not in the average schools either. Are you surprised that employers don't choose black graduates from community colleges or all-black special schools? When kids prefer to hang out all day at the basketball courts then you produce disproportionately many NBA stars but very few able students who can keep their shit together in a university.
Whoops. I miss posted. My reply wasn’t aimed at you. By the way, I am talking about the book entitled The Bell Curve. If that wasn’t clear. I certainly am no quant. But, I have read enough to think here has not been a solid discovery based on genetics to pinpoint the cause of all the issues you point out. BTW, you’ll note that I have not disagreed with anything you or Carrer have said except his original comment and then I only asked what it was based on.
I agree with you that the root causes have not been well researched and found yet. But it definitely does not help when the left vehemently denies that racial differences exist. When people are too busy to scream for equal outcomes they don't have any time to understand why not everyone has equal opportunities.
You truly do operate in a blind rage. And I mean quite literally blind, since I FREAKING POSTED THE DIRECT LINK TO THE 2018 REPORT in the very post you just listed (#84) And what I pasted in, what you call the "pretty dumb statistic" was simply a direct excerpt from that 2018 report!
You truly are a narcissist to the level that it's impossible for you to conceive of having ever been wrong, even when it's pointed out to you in black and white, aren't you ("hard to come by more recent figures, most likely because of liberal and PC whitewash" when you were given a direct link to numbers for the last full calendar year, IN A POST YOU QUOTED!)? Unbelievable!
