  1. that would be proximity-hosting. Colocation for financial order submission or data retrieval is generally on the premises of the exchange, ECN,...

  2. Well, I assume you aqre one of those nutheads that redefiene their worlsd as they like and do not care what terms the rest of the world uses.

I learned that people with mental problems are not to be discussed with. So, live in your little world, while a billion dollar industry offers colocation without exchanges.

Also, your limited term hurts everyone here who would actually have a great benefit from a more professional attitude than housing his servers in his basement (i.e. at home).

The "blabla" for you is the real world.

  3. My friend, you are the one who is shooting everyone, in whatever thread you roam, down and when someone else takes you on you go all berserk. Maybe you can keep it non personal. I do not think I attacked you in any personal way.

I understand you are coming from the IT side. I understand that you live in Poland and execute your strategies on servers in Chicago. But you have, to your own admission in the past, never worked as trader at any professional setting such as hedge fund or investment bank and I highly doubt you have even worked at such institutions as IT personnel. So, you hardly know what terminology is used there. I simply brought you up to speed in that the term colocation in finance refers to running on exchange or ECN servers. You can debate as much as you like but it does not change that fact.

Nobody is running anything out of any basement. It you need to feel inclined to create fantasies to make you feel better then please do so but I like to inform you that you are sometimes running into people who may have worked for more than a decade at sell side and hedge fund trading desks and have managed other traders under them and had plenty IT support and understand a bit about the IT and programming side as well, especially when having a heavy quant background under the belt. . If you want to feel you are above everyone else then please do so. It seems from your involvement in other threads that you are the self-proclaimed expert in EVERYTHING IT and trading related. But I speak up when I hear bollocks and incorrect statements. That includes baseless claims by short-sell haters and that includes you using incorrect terminology. (But we can settle it here and now, you are right what concerns the general used term "colocation", however in financial IT colocation refers most always to exchange and ECN server owned colocation. Are you happy now? Can we move on?

P.S. Just to remind you, you were the one shooting another poster down by introducing erroneous terminology. Just want to keep the record straight.

  5. sure, especially when dealing with Sterling using trolls who chime in and tell people that ZeroMQ and RabbitMQ support multicast [they do it through hooked-up event callbacks, no true multicast](ZeroMQ is only when running on linux, windows ZMQ does not support true mutlicast, and RabbitMQ by definition does not do multicast because it is a brokered solution and not p2p, the message bus forwards msgs to all interested subscribers in the pipeline).

Funny how many people on this site pretend to be the experts when they are clearly not. But to each his own. Carry on...

  7. oh, my sincere apologies then, I must have signed up to the wrong site a few weeks ago because I did not sign up for wasting time (which is my most precious commodity) but was hoping to exchange idea with like minded people but boy, finding 1 in 100 posts of quality, substance and which represents facts and not only hearsay and unsubstantiated opinions probably means striking the jackpot.

  9. You did. I take offense on morons pretending to know something. Be happy this is internet - in the real world, face slapping would be appropriate.

Would make you very fast realize that language is not something to play with.

  10. I can tell you that you should be happy to be an IT poster boy, you would not last even 2 weeks on a trading floor.

Enjoy your self-proclaimed supremacy in this thread. My God, I am out of here, this is getting ridiculous.
