AP History is a national curriculum - we have discussed it in detail in earlier threads. I have used it as context as one of the items that has changed - I never implying that AP History was a state standard. I will note the U.S. AP History test no longer includes any questions about the details of the U.S. Civil War, Now you go find me a single history course taught in K-12 classes in North Carolina where the curriculum discussed the Civil War in detail with dates, names, battles, etc.). At least a mention of Gettysburg and Lincoln's address there, eh? This seems like an important historical detail. All of this was taught in my history classes in Long Island when I was in Jr. High School (now known as Middle School) and High School. All of our American history classes discussed the battles, generals (Grant, Sherman, Lee, etc.), dates, and politicians (Lincoln, Davis, etc.) involved in the Civil War. Can someone explain why all of this has been scrubbed from history classes across most of our nation.
While the fourth grade curriculum focuses on North Carolina, the fifth grade curriculum focuses on the United States. Students begin their studies with American Indian groups indigenous to the United States before the arrival of European settlers and conclude with the Civil War and Reconstruction period. -Cumberland County Schools Social Studies Curriculum Published by Valerie Robinson on October 21, 2019
GWB...again are you being dense on purpose>> We showed you the current NC curriculum that includes the CIVIIL WAR.... Are you being obtuse on purpose when you ask again for proof that CIVIL WAR is being taught? Your school sucked balls then, tell me the school district and I will pull up the curriculum currently in place. You are just ranting that CIVIL WAR is being scrubbed and ignoring all evidence to the contrary.
How nice "the Civil War and Reconstruction" period. Once again go find me a single history course taught in K-12 classes in North Carolina where the curriculum discussed the Civil War in detail with dates, names, battles, etc.). At least a mention of Gettysburg and Lincoln's address there, eh? This seems like an important historical detail.
I would urge people to go read the previous threads on U.S. AP History. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...-new-ap-us-history-class.288075/#post-4056383 "The updated AP US History course has now become a countrywide controversy after many educators took a in-depth look at the contents. The entire course has been re-written around "the theme of ‘white superiority’ and the ‘subjugation of Africans and American Indians’" Traditional American figures such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are barely mentioned in the course. School boards have passed a resolution stating the updated US AP History course "reflects a radically revisionist view of American History that emphasizes negative aspects of our nation’s history while omitting or minimizing positive aspects.” In North Carolina, our state Board of Education is now hearing the controversy and demanding answers from the College Board, which updated the class for high school students,"
I showed you the curriculum. Rather than say "Ooops you are right" you went full sceaming Grandpa on the porch and want me to produce a textbook with a page cite that shows a specific mention of Gettysburg. You were proven wrong.....stop ranting
What the fuck do you think the Civil War means???? It means studying the Civil War and the facts about it. I have family in NC and they fucking know what the hell the Battle of Gettysburg is... Just because your schooling was deficient, do not try to project based on some bullshit from the AP test. AP test is a national private entity that has nothing to do with the State Board of Education. I showed you proof NC teaches the Civil War. Case closed.
