Would you share a trading idea?

Good post. Like everyone else here who thinks they're the world's greatest trader, I used to have a "Secret System" that I thought was the product of my own genius until I saw it on another guy's site exactly. If your system has anything to do with Moving Averages, MACD, Oscillators, or any other common TA, even if you're using an uncommon combination of them or using them in an uncommon way, someone else has already come up with it and has probably published it in a book somewhere. If you still think your "secret" is a secret, you haven't looked hard enough.

And if you think ET people are going to front-run your ET-quality system and thus kill it, either it's not a very good system or you should stop trading OTC stocks with 1000 shares/day volume. Anyway, I'd just front-run them front-running me, and their volume would push it up even faster and make me even richer.

Maybe everyone here on ET is too cocky and afraid to share the glorious system that has earned them a miraculous "Barely Breakeven" over the last year, but there are lots of sites with lots of systems -- and your "Secret" system is definitely out there. You might be smart, but you're not smarter than everybody else who's been doing this decades longer than you have.

  2. Do you want to make money talking about how to make money?

    Or make money?

Time is always on your side if you know how to use time wisely. In a sideways biased environment, you are going to get chopped to death playing short term games of foolery.

Due to the lack of trend, your equity will erode slowly as time passes. In your quest for fast gains, you will press your size foolishly trying to make a big score, only to get washed out for a loss because your mind couldn't handle the size. Even so if the short term trade moves with you, you exit too early giving up profits because of the bad habits you lead.

The short term trader never knows how much to make, but knows how to lose very well. His goal is general pie in the sky wants and desires. Only a handful go on to make consistent profits year over year.

  3. Wonderful response to a great post!

Great ideas are not born in a vacuum. Though some vacuums exist at ET.

Oooh ok, you convinced me that I am not smart and that my system is out there somewhere. With that force of argument I resign and my next post will showcase my system line by line.

  9. I'll share my idea.

My idea is buy low and sell high. If you can do that, you will be very profitable.
