The Chinese have been working like hell to catch up. Thw US population has been sitting on it's ass, playing with the toys they purchased by refinancing their ever-expanding home equity and relying on the illusion that "it's a superior to the world in financial engineering" and the whole population has grown up conditioned that "we're #1 and the best". Not exactly a recipe for continued excellence. More like mediocrity, is the result.
