Would you rather trade on your own making 100k yr or trade for a firm making 500k yr

  1. heck, at one point i was thinking about going to work for a state dept. contractor in Frigging BOSNIA (tax free salary!)

granted, this was many years ago - before i discovered trading, and i was single, and ...

but my point is that sacrificing a little present, for a much better future... well...

Aesop had something to say about that.

Life is not short when you are 21 y.o..

life is short when you are 45+ and you start to realise your mortality...

Secondly,I think you are implying that the 100,000 per year can be made in 5 hours per day or you can take off whenever you like..

  3. YUP and most don't realize that until there isn't much left. I hate it that it happens that way.

  4. Life begins to slip away from the day you are born. You just don't realize it until you are 45+.

He who dies with the most toys doesn't win . . . he's dead!

I make a marvelous living trading independently and am done each day by noon. It has taken a long time to get here but I also have loved the journey. Life is good, family makes it outrageously wonderful and sharing ties it all together.

    Taowave quotes:
"and if freedom is really what you are after, making $100,000 per is not going to get you to the promised land in this lifetime. "

Please clarify this..... You meant to say it will NOT take YOU to the promised land in this lifetime. You must be soooo consumed by your own lifestyle and narrow mindeness. Just go look around different regions in the country and you wll see 100k will get many to the so called promised land. And by the way WTF is this Promised Land anyway?? Thats so f@cking subjective. My promised Land is probably totally different than yours !! Don't assume other people share the same beliefs as you .

So please just go and edit your post instead of speaking for the rest of us.

  8. What about those who are well enough capitalized, have developed the skills of successful trading and know that they can adapt to changes in the markets?

Such a person isn't limited to 100,000 but its probably enough for a good living if thats all they want and need. For such a person there is no gain from going to work for some corporate. So why make the sacrifice?

Nor would I want to run a fund. I've had a number of people ask me to trade their money but my answer, because I generally like them, is a sad no. If you have enough capital to scale as high as you want then there is no monetary reason to trade OPM. Just trade your own money and enjoy your life.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it if you want to do it. I am saying that if you are already a consistently successful trader with the capital to scale to whatever size you want or need then you don't need to work for anyone else, live where you don't want to be, or commute when you'd rather be doing something else.

Discrat, is right. We make our own choices. Live free and enjoy the benefits of being a trader

  10. well said......my sentiments exactly.

most are willing to sell out their freedom, creativity, indepedence & basically life at some monetary amount......never me....not even for a year out of my life.perfect example was friday, the nyc area was hit with about 4" of rain,my brother, working in the city, left work at 3:15,to beat the traffic & get home early.needles to say he called me from the west side highway at 5:30....it took him over 2 hours to drive 100 city blocks, inching along in his steel coffin along with every other sucker & got home at around 7pm that night.i`d rather be dead than deal with that even on a temporary basis.....no way is there a sum of money that i will allow to enslave my thinking & creativity.it really defeats the purpose of life, after all,one of the reasons we trade is for complete independence as well as self discovery without a cieling on our income,so why settle for 500K or even 1 million or 2?

life is waaaaay too short no matter how old/young one is.....that`s the first lesson.
