No, I wouldn't pay to have a chat room. A message board isn't a place to come and learn trading anyway, it's for chatting. I view this board as my virtual office, I have it up when I'm working and if I have something to say, I say it, if not, I'm just listening politely just like I would be in a real office setting. I've been on the receiveing end of some of these punk's bullshit myself and I did the worst possible thing I could do to them. I ignored them. And that's all you have to do. Once they've been ignored long enough, they lose their incentive to be here. And when you get into a pissing match with them, YOU have become part of the problem.
Stupid poll question... 50 dollars a month? That would be ridiculous... Maybe 5 dollars a month... It's a freaking forum, plus how do we know that there are "professionals" on here anyway. What a joke! Nice try ET...
Pay money for this site? Other than to thwart off spammers, there's no reason to pay for anything here. There are some nice threads, but there are many nice free blogs, forums, etc. out there as well. I would not pay a penny to be here. Just my 2 cents.
Sure -- but not publicly, as this likely will spawn a discussion about the value of investment newsletters or services and get folks dragged into a pissing match no matter how one may read or incorporate them into their trading or investment strategy. If I remember to log in later I'll PM you.....am heading out to dinner shortly.
Guys I agree with you in principle I don't look to this forum for any advice. Many of the participants whose advice I found valuable have left. Who knows, it may change in future. For those interested in portfolio advice I like Bob Brinker. What I like about him is that he has a radio show. You can hear him talk about ideas related to investing (he is a long term invester) without spending anything. Then if you like what he has to say he has a newsletter that outlines his recommendations. I think its a good way to go and offers a lot of value without a lot of risk. Short term advise is much more difficult to come by. The folks who have success try to keep low key. None of the chatrooms talked about here offer any value (in my opinion). Unfortunately the best options that I know of are by invitation only, so you have to be bringing something to the table yourself...Perhaps a better way to go is education if you are looking for shorter term success (swing or intraday trading). Much like yourselves I have no interest in putting out my comment and getting into a shouting match...all I have is an opinion based on some experience. If you have some interest, come on back and we can talk...otherwise.. Good luck Steve
'Ya know, I had to think about this, I've always known that a little cover charge will keep the riff raff out but really, if I paid for entry to a site, and all the other entrants paid for same, I would be a lot more likely to post actual useful stuff.. as it is, I never post stock recommendation lists or anything much other than autotrading software advice because I feel that posting useful stuff on a freebie site and being slammed and wrongfully accused for it is not my thing... I guess I post regarding software because I can see the guys are actually working at something other than making my life miserable.... I'm not going to take 13 years of very hard work and pour it down some shithole inhabited by idiots like I see here on ET... at $50 a month I'd give it a shot.....
