Probably nothing at this point in time. I already have this system/application working bug-free for years and use it on a daily basis. I would estimate it took me a bit over 5 years on/off to complete with a lot of research and development going into it. A professional firm created it for me. The first version was very, very basic, but as my requirements grew the original version was expanded over the course of three or four new upgrades. I think the main problem is that it grew too complex/big considering the original solution, so instead of expanding the original solution it should have been re-written from scratch on that final iteration. It consists of many parts. C# application, SQL DB, automated data download from IQFeed/QCollector, Excel as front-end and various Ninjascripts for visualizations and analysis. The main problem is that it’s slow and cumbersome – especially for intraday updates. But it does work. My hope was to be able to re-write it in a more efficient and complete solution (everything integrated in one complete framework) and potentially develop it even further with new features (although not a main requirement). I will probably just stick with what I have and if I at one point in the future should have a lot more $$$ in my pocket maybe I will pay a firm to re-write it as per my specifications.
What you have is what we had 2012-2015, then it was upgraded to a single instance terminal 2015, then upgraded to multi-instance 2018 and now about to be upgraded again, also C#/DB. What you are waiting for is to skip the iterations being deviations behind, not going to happen unless someone has already done that, which no one has otherwise they would have what I use. You need the iterations, SpaceX took 4 launches to be successful, never ceases to amaze how everyone procrastinates hoping to skip the hard part and then wondering why it doesn’t work
I get it. The tricky part is the first one ... signal: c#, SQL, IQ feed, Excel visualisation: excel to ninja trade: discretionary. I see/recognise feel the pain; it's the first part that's a headache. If you're feeling brave I reckon you could hack through GPT it with a simpler setup using Eikon/python. Excel bridge is great too. But having only done part of that route I couldn't swear on how easy it'd be. https://www.refinitiv.com/en/products/eikon-trading-software/eikon-app-api-innovation/eikon-data-api anyways good luck however you do it Or Alistera, perhaps you'd like to offer to remodel it with your fancy ass creations?
Remodel it by skipping iterations to the end result, sure but they wouldn't be able to afford that.*** Picasso is sketching at a park. A woman walks by, recognizes him, and begs for her portrait. Somehow, he agrees. A few minutes later, he hands her the sketch. She is elated, excited about how wonderfully it captures the very essence of her character, what beautiful work it is, and asks how much she owes him. “5000 francs, madam,” says Picasso. The woman is incredulous, outraged, and asks how that’s even possible given it only took him 5 minutes. Picasso looks up and, without missing a beat, says: “No, madam, it took me my whole life.” Rapid remodel the next iteration as the architecture I use is C#/DB based, sure that's more reasonable. ***I usually charge $185/hr for consulting, if you skip 2 iterations I need to get the $850/hr consultants involved, 3 iterations the $1,800/hr consultants, sure they only need a few hours but still. If it took me 40hrs build at $7.4k, 20hrs at $400/hr to skip iteration 1 for $8k, 10hrs at $850/hr to skip iteration 2 for $8.5k, 5hrs at $1,800/hr to skip iteration 3 for $9k. Making it $32,900 for the build, I used the $4k/hr consultants for a fund setup once, that was impressive.
Sure, the interesting part in all this is that no matter how you slice the numbers, do it yourself via build and losses, have a third party build each iteration, skip the iterations and build the end result, the numbers will all correlate to one and reconcile back to that last number. The only difference is the amount of time that elapses between today and the end result.
Are you saying that Tesla couldn’t build an electric car without first inventing the wheel and then the horse and buggy and then the internal combustion engine?
No one said they had to invent it, but if the iteration knowledge was closed source, I have seen more trading systems this year than you will see in a lifetime, they were all completely useless because they relied on one simple fact, that the open source basis they used actually worked.
I dunno what you’ve seen. You act very arrogant and then talk in very strange percentage terms and small dollar amounts. Your terms are non-standard. I don’t know if your language translator or something else. it makes no sense to quantify level 1, 2, 3. It’s not a video game. There isn’t some set rule on what one has to accomplish before they go to the next iteration.
I agree, but I think the point is that a person must learn to walk before they run and how to crawl before all that. No one goes from playing with legos to building skyscrapers overnight.
