I understand. That doesn't mean the same shit couldn't have happened there. Just imagine the faces of the geniuses when the unexpected started to happen.

    Nobel prize and such...

By the way Margin Call wasn't based on any true event, I think the Lehman Brothers crisis comes to it the closest :

"Although the film does not depict any real Wall Street firm, or similar corporate action during the 2008 financial crisis, Goldman Sachs similarly moved early to hedge and reduce its position in mortgage-backed securities, at the urging of two employees.[13] Other firms like Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns found themselves similarly and catastrophically over-leveraged in mortgage-backed securities. They scrambled, ultimately unsuccessfully, to manage the financial and public panic that ensued when their problems became apparent and the global financial markets plunged as a result."

    So did I... :)

The trick is with any movie is to buy into the premise. I generally don't like superhero movies, because I just don't buy the premise of those. Now occasionally when I do, I just suspend my logic and enjoy the ride...

If you read the comment properly, you'd see I wasn't replying to your posting of professional reviews but to Pekelo's link of user reviews.

I liked that movie a lot. The firm was fictional, but the idea that rocket scientists and engineers were drawn from their careers to Wall Street made a great point.

  4. You clearly hold rocket science and engineers in higher regard than I do. And, if the point was thay if you pony up enough money people will change their career plans, that point was made. That said, is anyone surprised that money turned out to be a powerful incentive?

I have just watched (or rather it was in the back ground) Supercapitalist, and it was very boring and somehow amateurishly made....
