Update Dav sent me a PM saying the view trades window and hot key feature activation problem I'm having should be fixed in the 886 beta version. While I'm often dumb enough to down load the latest version I hate the idea of a beta. But I down load the beta anyway. The aforementioned problems are still there in the beta. I changed my mind. I think IB's programmers must be Gumby and Pokie.
I am on 882.2 no problems. I only upgrade when they make me. By they, I mean third party software that eventually does not work with really old TWS versions. This works out about twice per year max. My current version was released in February. I did have to download a newer Java plug in a month ago, but not a new TWS yet!
I went back to the previous version after I started having problems. It suddenly had problems as well. I have no idea if my settings got screwed up by the original offending upgrade or if it's the new TWS alone. There are others having similar issues though.
Does 882.2 have bug of Trades window (executions) where there are no column headers, so no sorting or sizing? Also when you try to configure columns, just a bunch of blank Checkmarks. Not major, but annoying... Also, anyone know what the oldest allowable build is... I have 779.. wonder if I can go back further than that. I was quite happy before the last forced upgrade... I believe this is the worst rollout yet (and I've been around since '00)
I had an issue with 885 (now .7) at startup where I would get the splash screen, at which point it would hang. I then rolled back to 882 and didn't have the problem anymore. Yesterday I tried with 885 again and it ran fine. This morning same problem with its hanging again. It turns out that yesterday I ran TWS (javaw, actually) as administrator and today under a power user id (something I have done for several years). I believe formerly any user could use TWS even if it was installed under admin, but now you have to "run as" administrator. Has anybody else had this experience? Is there a preference to set somewhere either in TWS or java that allows any user id to use TWS? Kiwi: Thanks for the advice re: the java 1.6.0_10-beta (RC). Start up and performance is much improved.
