  1. There's the law and there's what you're expected to do. And in Japan it's a very big difference.
A mother that has a full time job is considered a bad mother in Japan. So her colleagues/boss will push her to quit. Even many newly married women will quit because they are supposed to take care of their husband! It's slowly changing partly thanks to jp government but it's gonna take a really long time.

I graduated from a Japanese university. So if in my company there's an employee that graduated from the same university but a previous year, he can ask me to do many things for him even though he can be much lower in the compamy's hierarchy. And I can not refuse! This implicit rule has great impact on the Japanese chain of commands in corporations.

It's easy to change laws when they are written, but when it's hidden or implied, it's the mentality that you need to change and that takes much more time!

    Jen hotel! Good to know

Your last infinite pool in front of the sea is nice but beware of sunburns! Haha

Agree with the cultural if not legal limitations on women in Japan. Per my earlier post.

To your point, I have seen some internationally educated Japanese women become very successful in their careers. But it required working for US companies inside Japan, then breaking down extreme cultural hurdles placed by Japanese men who had hardly ever even left the country, but thought they ruled above all.

The last seaside pool was Ritz Carlton, Langkawi. No children allowed that that particular pool. Does need more shade. But it has a cocktail bar. I'll stop with the pool photos now :)
