***I am not trying to be "goody goody" on this point, but when a firm is a prominent as we are, we do our very best to not get headlines that say they were fined $175,000 for breaking NASD rules, it makes one wonder about the rest of their practices.*** Let's just say Walter is the Mark Cuban of trading firm owners, and it doesn't bother him. Whatever it takes basically. Worldco has 750 traders and 650 or more active ***The NYC marketplace is competitive.*** So competitive that Bright has next to no client base there. Seriously after I checked out your operation in New York, I think it needs to grow a little before it is worth attacking. ***Good luck with "operation Generic" -- I'm sure you're aware of Ron Scheer's history on the AMEX(the CEO of Generic) and his "feistiness" (if that's a word) in the Global marketplace.*** Doesn't really matter, if he charges a high rate in New York, he is vulnerable, as simple as that. The past mean nothing, the future is what matters. TO ANY GENERIC TRADERS READING THIS BOARD: Please e-mail me your trading record / volume / current rates, and just let me know what will it take for you to come to Worldco, 9 out of 10 times, I will be able to fulfill it with ease. If you are a profitable trader, you write your own deal, that is the rule of thumb in this business.
Traderjim's got it right about the Bright overkill...as for myself..being one who is considering a pro firm...Bright got itself off my list because of the excesive and annoying(to me) posts. I know at least 2 other traders who went to other firms for this same reason. Again this is my opinion only, I have never met any Bright family, have nothing against them personally, have never seen a bright office...I've just been turned off by those 800 posts. If I were in NY looking for a place to trade...I'd have 3 names on the top of my list: 1)Echotrade 2)WorldCo 3)Leiber & Weissman all within walking distance from each other...thats my 2cents from a guy who has nothing to promote.
To Uptick and Jim....I am really sorry that my attempts on this board to help with some of the trading, and respond to a lot of the silliness out here has bothered you...I really am. As far as traders going elsewhere because of it, I really question that. I have tried to keep my posts in good taste, and to attempt a little good natured fun. A full 30% of our recent additions have come as a result of ET and my time on it. Not a big deal, just how it's worked out. NYC is it's own world, and I wish all the firms the best. I would think that a visit to our office or to actually discuss trading (rather than firm bashing), might result in a different choice. Good Luck in your trading, and in your search for a firm.
don- I'm sure you have gotten many traders from ET, how could you not ? 800 posts in 4 months? I would expect you'd get something from that. I'm just saying that I crossed Bright off my list and I know at least 2 other posters here who did the same. I'm not gonna name them, if they want to say they can. I've never bashed your firm or anyone else's...I'm just stating my opinion. I can do that without paying for advertising here right? No disrespect to Baron. I know this is a great site and it costs $ to keep it going. Uptick2000
That is my same list. I am sad in a way that all the spamming has added a lot of traders for Don, that means it will probably continue. The way Gene Weismann and def talk about their firms is the way it should be done, they are both very professional and industry promoting, instead of firm promoting. Even with all the firm promoting, this is still the best board around. Kudos to Baron.
TraderJim- I agree with you 100%. Gene is a stand up guy and extremely professional. I met with him last Nov...very informative...and even when I posted I was still looking for a pro firm, he did not post something like "when you're serious about trading come check us out"...he sent me a personal e-mail giving me info about his firm. That's the way I like it. He's probably the most personable and professional pro-firm owner on the board. Gene, now what was that rate again? macal- i know i keep trying too. i was gonna use the ignore feature...but its good reading for a laugh...my favorite was when somebody stated their winning percetage as 25-40% and he said that he didn't understand how that could be profitable.
To Don Bright's defense, I've noticed that not all of the eight hundred postings are about "promiting" his firm. Don actually goes out of his way to answer questions for the curious. I don't see any other firm taking such a proactive approach on the matter. Point in case, when I met him at the expo, he was cordial and professional. He spoke about the industry as a whole, and avoided from bashing any of his competitors. Would it be sensible just to read Bright's posts without getting disturbed at his signature? I think so. He's got a wealth of information, so let it be. Personally, I don't think it's spamming if he's out here, helping newbies.
