Well, no, not really. Educated Americans think this type of locker room talk is pretty telling, especially when used by someone who has personal delusions of not only grandeur, but relevence. No quicker way to prove one's self an intellectual misfit than to resort to such vulgararities. The latent homosexual thing, as you call it, is not nearly as identifying as the locker room mentality and verbiage. It makes whatever you say, that might even have some value, become meaningless. c
