Oh come on, this is ridiculous. 50% of Americans are religious, 20% of Israelis are muslims, a large percentage of Israelis are followers of Judaism (some of them are anti-zionists btw). What on earth does it all have to do with the support of Israel in the US and nationalism? 95% of americans and 91% of Israelis are meat eaters, why don't you blame the support of Israel and patriotism on the fact that people eat meat? What you are saying is that americans are religious, americans support Israel so the support of Israel is based on religion. This is a pretty pathetic logical fallacy, a ten year old could have avoided it but then Israel haters have never been accused of logical and coherent thought process to begin with. Now, as far as international law is concerned: the objective of any law is to protect the innocent and to catch, prosecute and punish perpetrators. When international law protects Israel from Qassam and Katyusha rockets and suicide bombers, when international sheriffs arrest and prosecute Ahmadinejad for threatening its neighbor and violating non-proliferation laws, when international courts force arab and muslim states to follow the law and recognize Israel's right to exist, when international law enforcement agencies comb Lebanon and Gaza and return kidnapped Israelis back to their families - perhaps then we can seriously discuss the merits of this law. I really hate to burst your bubble but until then all these laws are not worth the paper the Brussels bureaucrats wrote them on.
a_person, so in essence it all boils down to that you don't give a damn about any international law ... Ok. Well, I hope you respect the law while trading. Good luck with that. (too bad you couldn't keep from returning to personal attacks ...)
Well, it does not all boil down to that one thing, it's far more complex and complicated than that but yes, I don't give a damn about international law. I have tremendous respect for laws that are enforceable and enforced, I have no respect for a meaningless, divorced from reality and unenforceable piece of paper regardless of how well-meaning it was intended to be. As I said in my previous post international law which has no courts, no judges, no jury, no enforcement, no punishment, which is unable to protect the innocent and prosecute perpetrators is not worth the paper it's written on. For Israel to unilaterally follow the letter of that law while it's surrounded by 350 million arabs and 1.5 billion muslims whose only law is Islam and whose only objective is the liberation of Jerusalem from the infidels is suicidal. I realize that this is exactly what you want but I promise it is not going to happen, as BSAM said earlier in this thread
