(1) Many uninsured CHOOSE to be uninsured. (2) Anyone uninsured can negotiate with doctors, hospitals, etc. to get amounts reduced to near what the usual customary amounts are. You totally missed my point -- I take care of myself and resent paying for those who CHOOSE to ABUSE their body/health status.
But you don't take of yourself. You pay a few hundred and the insurance picks up the $15,000+ tab. Where do you think that extra 15K comes from?
Hello!!! Insurance is NOT picking up the $15K. That's what the hospital wanted for me being there 2+ hours and I have responsibility for a decent chunk of that. I clearly stated I pay BOTH premiums and out of pocket costs. I'm not a free loader on Medicaid or who shows up at the ER and doesn't pay. Do you understand insurance?
