From the interview, the old man seems to be a very decent person. It sucks to be broke at that stage in life when money makes a huge difference in the quality of life and choices. Tempus fugit.

The daughter learned an expensive lesson. She has the naïveté of a young woman raised in a sheltered childhood who doesn’t know the deviousness of men. In the old days pre-internet she would have been banged out plenty by the guy in addition to losing all her money.

Still, I don’t understand this dating-app/social-media generation’s willingness to give up their privacy online. And I’m saying this as someone who has met quite a few people in person from chat rooms, 1999-2002, and even from this EliteTrader forum at meetups.

In any case, money comes and goes. At her age she will have at least a few opportunities to make it back as long as she looks forward and doesn’t get stuck dwelling on her mistake. Another dotcom- or crypto-craze equivalent will come around in the next generation. You can bank on that.

People are always more sloppy with money they don't earn. The false sense of relief from not having to earn it lowers their guard, almost every time.

It wasn't the scammers' fault, he was just doing his job.

She would have found another way to blow the money.

It's never the scammers' fault, he's just doing his job.

Because they thought of the idea in the first place. That is how they can sleep comfortably at night.

No way a winning trader would be interested. Imagining how hard he's worked to get where he is, then having someone with her money skills in the house. Would you want her to have access to your account? Nightmares....

A winning trader couldn't win make choices that bad.

I deleted the post because I realized her loses were not in the market, so no capital loss carry.

Fair enough. She's still a bad investment no matter how you look at it.

Some have lost millions to Crypto scams - the level of stupidity has to be at an all time high.
For a con to work - the victim has to be greedy & naive.
