I believe that you need to look at the Franken allegations in context of current events. This woman had this picture for years and could have come out at any time with her assertions. However she came out now, shortly after the Roy Moore story breaking -- driven by the Washington Post. The entire Franken story is the right-wing political response to the Democratic behavior demonstrated during the Moore story --- with a warning to stop it now otherwise it will escalate tit-for-tat.
Her picture disproves her own allegation and after Franken's statement, the issue will die down. Even if it doesn't, it's irrelevant, I don't care what the right wing response is, expose pedophiles and perverts regardless of parties. This is especially important with Cons because they act morally smug and lecture others on values even with Trump as their leader. The hollowness of Conservatism must be exposed, if there are Democrats that are outed, they can go where Weiner went, doesn't matter at all.

I have already stated that IMO the allegations against Franken hold no water -- they were merely put forward now as a warning from the political right to the left (and their media enablers) to constrain their behavior because what comes around goes around -- and there are plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle in D.C. with dirt in their closets.

The groping and attack style kissing is really rather serious. This is the essence of using ones power and authority over another person. Ok, so since you're now defending Franken and basically saying it was the same thing as what Trump did, I fully expect you to start defending Trump anytime someone brings up the pussy grabbing comment. After all Trump apologized for this locker room talk, just like Franken apologized for groping the woman.
Do you think Wapo or NYT would care? Did you forget that NYT paid the Breitbart editor for the Clinton Cash book? They broke the email server story, they bought the Whitewater story to national spotlight. There is no coordinated 'liberal' media as you think, if WaPo or NYT get another scoop on a Republican or a Democrat, they will publish it. NYT broke the Weinstein story, who were they warning then? I am defending Franken based on evidence - he is not touching her and now we know that she wasn't even asleep as she claimed. Trump on the other hand didn't deny making those claims, numerous woman have accused him, many have went to court and we have videos to prove what a creepy perv the guy is. And all that compared to a staged picture? False equivalence.
