"Wolf of Wall Street" review

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by Maverick74, Dec 21, 2013.

  1. Interesting that Steven Madden shares SHOO, which are still trading on the Nasdaq, is up more than 3000% since 1994 and had a conspicuous 'pullback' since this movie was released.

Am I personally going to buy this dip? I think I will pass. But their trailing PE is lower than the SPX at least.

Awesome movie, I stay away from Penny stocks. Everyone I talk to about trading have a horror story about how they lost money in penny stocks. I tell them they should have lost their money if they were trading prop with Penny stocks. Now I refer them to the movie :D :D

Another penny stock SHARK Timothy Sykes !!

I saw it last week. I thought it was quite well done.

My advice to anyone thinking of seeing it - don't take the kids. Unless you are the parent of a lil 2 year old black kid in Nebraska, don't even think about it. Even the wives - it may be a bit over the top for some depending on the person. My wife was ok with it, although she didn't find it nearly as hilarious as I did.

It's 3 hours of solid debauchery. It makes the Hangover movies look like Mr. Rogers neighborhood.

Saw it yesterday. I liked it, although it was a bit long. In a lesser director's hands it would have been awful, but Scorsesee (sp?) is a master. This is the Goodfellas of Wall Street.

I laughed so hard at the whole Qualuude set-piece in Belfort's country club/car/house that my sides were hurting.

  7. It was funny but that slapstick scene was a little drawn out and over-extended. We get the point, move on already.

I notice the media and most posters talk about penny stocks when referring to Stratton. Keep in mind their issues didn't trade on the otcbb but on the Nasdaq. Some were the biggest trading volume of the day when they had their IPOs.

  9. Martin Scorsese probably got burned with penny stocks and/or brokers in the past.

I dunno. That was a surprisingly sympathetic portrait of a complete sociopath. He even gave a cameo appearance in the final scene. Not a whole lot of attention paid to the people who got ripped off - many who weren't in the "1%."
