The only face masks being talked about was N95 masks and there was a run on these N95 masks -- which was depriving medical personal of them. Keep in mind that in February of 2020 they still did not believe the primary spread of Covid was caused by aerosols -- it was believed you had to touch a surface were the virus was present to pick-up the disease, hence the focus on washing hands. Plus all the warning to clean any packages or groceries coming into your house, etc. Science evolves as new information comes out. The advice on masks evolved worldwide as research of Covid determined the transmission methods clearly.
Nothing there was said about N95. So was the CDC wrong then and right now? Or are they wrong now but right, then? Because now they say any old mask helps. Which is it, NPC?

So the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta - studying viruses since 1946 and using science since then suddenly, in the spring of 2020, decided that the novel Coronavirus didn't follow the same rules as every other airborne virus they had studied in the past, is that it? New viruses require study and then the prevention & treatment science evolves. Tell us -- how did they think Covid was spread in February 2020 according to most of the media reports?
I'm not sure we should be looking to "media reports" for any science on how viruses spread. That's kinda my point. The CDC has had 70 years to study how viruses spread. When the virus was released, they rightfully went with the science. Then, as it became political, they changed it to The sCiEnCE™. There are many other examples of how they said one thing and then changed their mind. Remember when you could get vaccinated and then take off your masks? Then you had to wear your masks regardless. Then you had to wear them regardless inside. Mask Children in school - despite Europe and the WHO saying otherwise. Its a sham, and you're a big part of it. Not only do these idiots at the CDC and Fauci too, they do not differentiate or even know the difference in the types of masks? Those cloth masks with gaps around the nose and no filters, provide little protection. The same goes for those surgical masks that some people wear. Yet, Fauci and his ilk even now do not have a clue. That not all masks provide even proper protection. Only N95 and KN95 masks provide protection. Other masks are useless and they wonder why infections continue to spread?
it is amazing. At this point there are many large -scale scientific studies and data which demonstrate beyond a doubt that masks and mask mandates work to stop the spread of Covid. This is a scientific fact. It is not even debatable at this point -- but these clowns will still push piles of anti-mask and anti-vax misinformation from disreputable sources.
