Will zero "current available funds" on IB lead to margin liquidation?

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by learner88, Oct 26, 2017.

  1. I took on margin loan as an Interactive Brokes client. If "Current available funds" is zero but there are ample cushion on "current excess liquidity", will I get margin liquidation?

Is "current excess liquidity" the only field I need to watch to check the risk of margin liquidation? Are there anything else to watch?

    Thanks.

In TWS, those fields will blink yellow first as a warning (no liquidation even if they do that), then red which means liquidation is imminent.

  3. In TWS is a field called SMA (Special Memorandum Account). If that has a negative value near the end of the trading day will IB start to liquidate positions.

  4. Thanks for the replies. I will keep a lookout for the important fields.
