Will you stay with Cyber/Schwab if they only offer per trade pricing?

  1. I would imagine you mean printing the portfolio manager? My God...yes, I miss that. Unfortunately with RT you have to go to Penson and print...the next day. That does suck. I'm not a huge chart guy, so RT does all the charting that I need. It does have a cool right click print feature...I'm not sure if that was available in CT or not. That's usually the case within every application of RT. You can right click and one of the options is to print it.

I was platium with CT, was with them for 7 years, and was one of the few that was grandfathered with the 2 minute tick rule. Yes, I miss CT (Especially the 2 min. rule LOL). But Realtick is the closest thing to it, and in many aspects surpasses CT. That's my opinion, but I checked out probably a dozen other platforms before switching over. The learning curve may seem high, but I think that might be only because there is so much with this software...much more available than with CT. But I found it rather easy to learn. And the courses are worthwhile too. You can take a course without being a customer. But I'd recommend atleast downloading the demo, so you can participate and customize your layout.

Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone in finding a platform that is comparable to CT to them.

  2. I agree about the Alerts.
I close most of my Option calls/puts with Alerts, based on the share price. I am some what limited with SSpro. Mostly annoyed that the feat/terms are not the same, but with out the alerts, it would mean changing the way I get stopped out.
It's hard to break habits. Hell i don't even want to see the screen layout change from what I had. LOL (Security in continunity)

Attended a Schwab Trading Forum in Boca Raton. Spoke with a former Cyber Rep. They plan on introducing the ability to short utilizing ecn's 3rd quarter of this year. What a joke! I absolutely have to go with another platform. Thinking about Cobra? Anyone familiar with that platform?

Another thing; Once they introduce this new feature, there is going to be limited short shares available. For example; can't short BIDU, because they are'nt available.

I'm looking for a platform connected with Penson. Not sure if there is anything out there any better.

Schwab plans on introducing additional features this Feb.

But, if you can't short!!!!!!!! Screw it!

The closest thing you can get to Cyber is Nobletrading.

They use Pension and are a true direct access broker, including alot more trading options as far as futures, overseas, forex and more.

The commision is as close as it gets to cyber.

If I had to pick the least likable feature of Noble it would be their platforms are not as plentiful in features like Cyber was, but then again not many are.

  6. I don't understand the enthusiasm here for Penson. They don't pay interest on short balances, unlike IB and others, and their statements are incomprehensible. They do have a decent short list, and they do seem pretty reliable, but if you carry a lot of shorts, they are expensive compared to others.

I like Penson because I can sort the data into just the order I want it, then download it as a tab-delimited file and drop it into a spreadsheet for evaluation.

Schwab, on the other hand, does not provide either trade time or short information (they show a BTC as just a Buy) with their downloadable history, making it difficult to match postion openings and closings, especially if they do not occur on the same day.

It takes me three times as long to reconcile Schwab data against my own trading records, which I keep on a running basis thoughout the day, as it does Penson data.

I like Penson because I know the operations very well and I am extremely happy with them. Let alone I have many other personal reasons for liking them. (won't bore anyone)

I am sure we can all find issues with any clearing firm. :)

I highly considered IB, but IMHO I was'nt happy with the platform nor was I happy hering all the disconnect/ can't connect issues. My position are way to large for that to happy. I need the most stable plaform/broker out there. (which actually doesn't apply the the PENSON scenario) Sorry I just had to add that as one of my defining issues based my my selection of my broker.

  9. I had my last straw with Schwab. I am looking at a few brokers.
I specifically need Streaming News, Conditional orders when I can stop out an Option based on the share price and a broker that can handle IRA and Partnership accounts.

    Can anyone offer any input?

Is anyone with Tradeking? If so what do you like/dislike about them.
    Thanks ahead of time.
