If President Donald Trump gets re-elected, there will be a crackdown. He has sent Federal agents to handle Antifa and BLM thugs before in Seattle and Portland. Over 300 has been charged in Federal Courts where Democrat Mayors and Governors cannot just release the thugs. In addition, penalties for Federal offenses are tougher with longer prison times. This time out, President Trump can crackdown as he is not running for a 3rd term and would in addition would have the people's mandate. Expect more Antifa and BLM thugs to be charged for Federal crimes and locked up for long periods.
Maybe that should be a discussion... What will happen if either one wins ? Personally, I'm expecting chaos regardless who wins and have been stating such since the last stimulus package. A Biden win should lessen the chaos especially if the Democrats also win the majority in the Senate and increasing their stronghold on the House...it will pave the way to get a Stimulus package approved for the economy / individuals because they've already seen what happen over the spring / summer with the violence, riots and looting...some of which still are occurring all within a Pandemic. Pandemic / High Unemployment / Rioting / Looting / No Stimulus Deal / Elections...perfect storm for chaos Biden is sneaky...he wants to get elected and will crack down more hard then Trump when people riot and loot after being elected. Yet, he'll embrace peaceful protesting...wouldn't be surprise if he gets out there himself to encourage peaceful protesting as a way to lessen the rioting / looting. A Trump win...all hell will break loose because he will not even embrace peaceful protesting...sending a message to rioters and looters to tear everything down (sarcasm) as an unintentional result. Militias on both sides of the pond shooting it out. Been hearing about growing firearms & ammunition sales at Gun stores in Indiana, Illinois, South Dakota, Kentucky, Oregon and Arizona via military friends. I've prepared for the worst (a Trump win). I have a few military friends (ex AirAssault Rangers) will be camped out at my home on Monday just north of Chicago to protect my property just in case the worst does happen. My mom a military veteran herself will be there instead of living alone in her condo in the north end of the magnificent mile area. I'm not able to be there because the damn borders are still closed (Covid-19). Other family members not nearby and can't depend on them especially via the fact they have their own families (teenagers home for the weekend from college during the election vote count week...next week) and property to protect. I too expect hard times are coming as in the worst of society. If nothing happens, better safe than sorry. I voted more about "against Trump" in comparison to "for Biden". Too much disrespect for our military and poor response to the Pandemic for me to stomach anymore. wrbtrader
The balance between dem and pub seats is very tight and yet lots of the seats are subject to the lawsuits that will inevitably come from all the late voting and fraud and unsigned ballots, whatever. So any hold up will impact that. The there are a couple seats where there are third party candidates but the state requires a majority so they can get booted out to special run-off elections in January. etc, etc, known knowns and unknown unknowns.
Unless you're in Evanston you'll probably be okay, Evanston can be a little dicey. Chicago proper, and all south suburban areas will be up for grabs. NWI, specifically Gary, Hammond and East Chicago will be danger zones as well. I live further south in NWI. A Biden victory will give us a more honest assessment of how big of a threat Covid really is. It will not be used as a tool to bludgeon the economy with a Democrat coming in. Trump wins we're going on full lockdowns which crashes everything. If it's truly as imminently deadly as is being touted we're done either way. We'll know soon enough. Riots are immediate and widespread with a Trump victory. America will be quite a bit more dangerous than we're accustomed to, and will stay that way until a serious response is mounted by law enforcement. A Biden victory limits the riots to the business as usual random uprising the next time some thug gets his dumbass shot by a cop. Other than that it's same o same o for riots. Policy wise it depends if the Democrats take the Senate. They do and Trump wins it's total gridlock. Biden wins and there will be some sweeping changes, and it'll take some time to see how that plays out. Democrats get too far out over their skis too quickly and they'll lose it again in 2022. I think 2021 is a wreck economically anyway you slice it and it will be difficult for most average American people. What we need more than anything is some time to step back and take a breather. Sadly for us time is up, we're past many tipping points. The shear momentum of things will take us further down the rabbit hole than rational people on either side had planned for. I was a teenager in the sixties, some chaotic and violent times. I think the next year or two will make that look like a day in the park.
Yeah I'm reading up on it right now. You know I said months ago, its what happens in the Senate that is going to impact the markets the most. Need to have a strong handle on this for sure.
Ok Tree. Here's my thoughts. -Collins wins. (your neck of the woods so you might beg to differ as you have unique insider yankee insights i guess) -Colorado is gonna seat Hickenlooper or whatever he's called. -McCally loses AZ. -Bama of course goes back to the Pubs. -Joni holds Iowa. -TT squeaks out the win in NC -SC keeps Lidsey -TX keeps Cornyn And the clusterfvck over in Georgia.... Keeps the VIX above 25 till mid January! In the end, even if Biden wins, those two GA seats stay red. My guess... the Senate stays red. 2021... Vaccine comes in. Markets grind up/down but generally up... and the beat goes on.
“According to the FiveThirtyEight polling average, Joe Biden leads President Trump by 1.6 points in the Peach State, while RealClearPolitics gives Biden a .8-point lead. Major handicappers rate both of the state’s Senate races as toss-ups. Both Trump and Biden are making late stops in Georgia, and both parties are blanketing the state with TV ads, a sign they agree the race there is tight,” Byler noted.
