Hey nitro, thanks for the contributions here, . When I have time in the future I'll come back to this thread. There are definitely subjects listed I'd like to read up on too.
Agreed, were it up to me, id have read these books already. Have "The last hours of ancient sunlight", by thom hartmann on the to-read list, might have something to say.
The Chemical History Of A Candle (Paperback) - By Michael Faraday http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/14...102-7918485-8108151?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 Faraday is the hero of all "amateur" scientists. While Faraday was not formally educated, he is considered to be one of the greatest experimental scientists of all time. This book is a must read for everyone imo. nitro
If you liked this one The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat : And Other Clinical Tales (Paperback) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/06...104-1525010-2020731?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 (and I highly recommend it) you will like this one: A Brief Tour of Human Consciousness : From Impostor Poodles to Purple Numbers http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0131872788/104-1525010-2020731?v=glance&n=283155 Highly recommended. These books btw should be read by all traders, imo. nitro
I am half way done reading this book. I can't tell you how I wish that more books like these were published. This is about what is happening in mathematical research today and the author assumes you won't be scared by real mathematics. If you want a great book that is not shy and 95% of normal people can follow, run and buy this book. Read it ten times if you don't get it at first. It is truly worth understanding. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/06...104-0544876-9521507?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 nitro
If you buy a lot of books, you may find something worthwhile at Edward R. Hamilton. I have purchased a literal ton of books from him over the years.
Thanks for the tip. I usually buy them used from Amazon, unless I absolutely have to have it new, like the one above. nitro
Symmetry and the Monster : The Story of One of the Greatest Quests of Mathematics http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0192807226/104-0544876-9521507?v=glance&n=283155 A quarter of the way through. Light and very entertaining so far. nitro
