I don't plan on getting one. I don't want my library of books to be stored in the memory of an electronic device that is subject to catastrophic failure. Spill your coffe on your Kindle and your whole library is gone. No thanks.
I spent way too much money last night. I got: The Eerie Silence: Renewing Our Search for Alien Intelligence (Hardcover) ~ Paul Davies http://www.amazon.com/Eerie-Silence...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270839142&sr=8-1 The Little Book of String Theory (Science Essentials) (Hardcover) ~ Steven S. Gubser (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Little-String...1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270839196&sr=1-1-spell Decoding Reality: The Universe as Quantum Information (Hardcover) ~ Vlatko Vedral http://www.amazon.com/Decoding-Real...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270839224&sr=1-1 A Tear at the Edge of Creation: A Radical New Vision for Life in an Imperfect Universe (Hardcover) ~ Marcelo Gleiser (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Tear-Edge-Cre...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270839259&sr=1-1 (I also got a book on ASP.NET 3.5, but that is boring as hell - just reference.) Thankfully, Borders had a 30% of coupon which I used more than once (shhhhh). I will try to give recommendations when I am done with them.
what do you do with all these books once your done reading? it's interesting that with all your science background you can't let go of divine creation
"Natural Computing: DNA, Quantum Bits, and the Future of Smart Machines" http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Compu...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276960982&sr=8-1 I have not been reading much lately, but this book really peaked my interest. It actually has some stuff related to trading and traders. Worth a look.
I give them away to the library or there is always the bookshelf. Soon I will be making a transition to eBooks precisely because of this problem (I way prefer books to an eReader, but practicality cannot be beat with these eReaders). If a mat version of the iPad was out, it would happen tomorrow. Otherwise, I will probably wait to see the Google pad.
can you imagine the depth and breadth of reasoning of a smart machine 100,000 yrs from now? i wish i could be around to see it
nitro, so realize with a little luck you could have been born 100 yrs from now and had a great shot at immortality? sucks to be us
One coffe spill, or a fall from the coffee table and an electronic malfunction will destroy your entire library. No thanks, I'll keep my stained and dinged bound printed matter.
I am nearly certain that there are ways to reload the books free of charge under such a circumstance.
