After he was elected and a rally was on, I predicted that when he leaves office the market would be lower when he started. It is somewhere here on ET.
I'm an entrepreneur, started 2 successful companies during Obama's tenure. I launched my first company from school in the valley right when Obama took office, so am close friends with literally dozens of other successful entrepreneurs from that same period, ranging from those with 5 person companies to those who successfully went public. None of us say any negative impact from Dodd-Frank and Obamacare, to the contrary any impact was positive. So I'm curious how Dodd-Frank and Obamacare specifically negatively impacted you in your experience as an entrepreneur during that time period? Dodd-Frank was a banking bill that had jack shit for impact on pretty much any entrepreneur. I can't remember it coming up in a business conversation literally ever in the past 12 years. Obamacare was actually hugely beneficial to entrepreneurs because it removed what was previously a big barrier to new startups hiring good employees; healthcare. In the old days you couldn't afford to offer healthcare as a startup until you were at least at an A round. That put pretty much anyone with a family or over 30 out of the running from your hiring pool and especially anyone with a family member with a "pre-existing condition", that was often THE single factor that kept them at their current job and away from a startup. I personally had in-depth and somewhat painful conversations with people about this very subject. When Obamacare went into effect, this issue instantly went away. I could bump their pay enough to buy on the exchange, they didn't have to worry about the pre-existing condition issue...the whole problem just went away. And I personally was able to hire people who wouldn't have been able to switch to me before. Negative impacts? Zero, zilch, nada. I was easily able to afford to offer health care coverage by the time each company was at the employee threshold where it was required and would have done so anyway with or without Obamacare. This was a often discussed benefit among all the entrepreneurs I know from that era. So again, can you iterate what specifically in your entrepreneurial experience, or heck in the experience of any entrepreneur you personally knew, about Obamacare or Dodd-Frank that hurt entrepreneurs?
Sig You do realize that insurance premiums skyrocketed after obama care??? Obama care was a huge failure amd clearly was a mistake.
dude's butthurt he put Junior's college fund into the cult while anyone that spotted the BS a mile away locked in gains a month ago.
It’s funny here watching all the slaves predict. Of course, anything is possible. including a Chinese pandemic that kills thousands of Italians. But you guys knew that was coming...
Let's be very clear, I was responding to an assertion that "His actual economic policies (Obamacare, Dodd-Frank) did a lot more harm than good for entrepreneurs." I very clearly listed the positive impacts that Obamacare had for entrepreneurs, based on my experience as an entrepreneur. Do you disagree with anything I specifically stated, based on your experience as an entrepreneur? We could have an entire separate discussion about the accuracy of the claim that "insurance premiums skyrocketed", but let's not and instead talk about exactly what was claimed and my response. Do you have any specific useful comments on how Obamacare specifically "did a lot more harm than good for entrepreneurs" and any reason to claim that what I related, which directly contradicts that assertion, was wrong for any reason? Keep in mind "Obama care was a huge failure amd clearly was a mistake." is simply your unsupported statement of your personal opinion, it adds absolutely no additional useful information to and conversation and certainly not to this conversation about if Obamacare "did a lot more harm than good for entrepreneurs." So sticking with specifics and remaining on topic are always good rhetorical devices if you actually have a good point to make, just as an FYI.
History lesson for Reps: Obamacare was based on Roneycare what was a HUGE success in MAssachusettes. Of course Republicans gutted it nicely and that is how we got Obamacare. Fact: All Western countries health care are based on something similar to Obamacare. If it is good for the whole world, wait, something is wrong here...
