Will the SEC allow the shorting ban on financial stocks to expire on Thursday?
they will, IMO, extend the ban until the election.
yeah right, ban will stay.
even though we had the biggest point decline monday, wb and wm go bankrupt.
i love not getting blamed for crappy compaines going bankrupt. but at least it will only be 30 days. im just scared to see the political presure, and what rules they will end up putting on
Yes, the Ministry of Price Controls will extend the ban. Because there are no barriers to entry to the short ban list, it will grow to include practically everything.
However, the SEC doesn't have the legal authority to institute an emergency action for more than 30 days, so it will expire before the election.
By then, they'll have come up with some other idiotic piece of shit emergency rule to "stabilize the market" like an uptick rule where the tick is a dollar.
