Meanwhile in Kremlin ... Putin: There has been no need to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine conflict. I hope there never will be.
I heard that about Ronald Reagan, the fear mongers scared the children in 1979-80 that WW3 was imminent.
I don't think even conventional war would take place, let alone a nuclear war. Pakistan is put on alert and has to maintain constant readiness. That is expensive for them. Meanwhile India will wage an economic war and war through spy networks and keep them busy. India has now all the incentives to fund their enemies. You may think how economic war can be waged against Pakistan. Economic war does not really mean tariffs or export/import. Pakistan is dependent on resources from other countries and it has a limited export basket. So easy to choke the markets. Also do not forget water wars which also has a big economic impact. Pakistani dictators are fools to rely on nuclear deterrence while they weakened the economy. Pakistan has no strong education system and and so quick economic catch up with India is not possible. Pakistan was in a better economic situation than India in the 1960's. That was because USA funded Pakistan by giving them easy access to US textile market while choking off India through Textile import quotas. That import quota scenario continued till 2005. During the Soviet times, India was aligned with the Soviet Union and India managed to tear up Pakistan into two different countries Pakistan and Bangladesh. This has made US more sceptical about India and India drew itself much closer to USSR. Now the world dynamics have changed. Pakistan does have some supporters in the muslim world, but they can only do so much. (Turkey, Uzbekistan, Malaysia etc.) Many other muslim countries cannot support Pakistan against India because they have strong business ties with India. China helps Pakistan because China perceives India as its long term threat. Atleast Chinese Govt. thinks so and not their people. But China unlike USA does not splurge money on small nations to gain geopolitical hegemony. They are more practical and do not spend money for such things. India has many ways to put a leash on Pakistan and I really do not expect a war.
How foolish. In order for there to be a next nuclear war, there would have had to be one to start with. The time for a nuclear war is over. Now it will be chemical and/or cyber. "Next nuclear war"... Wow...
if one defines "nuclear war" as any war where nuclear weapons were used, however asymmetrically or briefly, then WWII was a nuclear war, and a “next nuclear war” could refer to any future conflict involving nukes. Michael D. Gordin's book Five Days in August: How World War II Became a Nuclear War explores how the atomic bombings transformed WWII into a nuclear conflict. Anyway, beyond unlikely Pakistan will but accidents happen when there is tension. Actually accidents and lack of forsight have nearly triggered nuclear war many times, just we have squeaked by so far.
Humans have eventually used every weapon at their disposal. I am pretty sure it will happen with nuclear weapons too. Though my intuition is that it will be in the Middle East.
Today's statement from the Defence minister: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warns enemies of a strong reply Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said it is his responsibility to give a "befitting" reply to those who dare to hurt India. What you desire will certainly happen: Rajnath Singh amid India-Pak tensions - https://www.indiatoday.in/india/sto...-who-dare-to-attack-india-2719445-2025-05-04- Longs are consolng themselves with "An N-war can't happen in this day and age", and 'nobody is dumb enough', while shitting their pants multiple times. The sad fact is that it needs only1 fanatic to press the button even if the whole country disagrees. I remember the last time that the Air Force bombed terrrorist camps in pakistan in retaliation for an attack that killed 40 soldiers. As soon as the announcement was made at around 10-11 am, the Indian market nosedived and the selloff continued right until the end of the day in anticipation of a full-scale war. And this was without the threat of using nukes.
