Cutting tax rates is good, eliminating taxes is better. Strongly reducing government spending is also good, as government spending never creates wealth, it just shifts money from one pocket to the other. In fact, while I'm on government spending, here's a youtube about Sandy Springs, Ga, the city that outsourced everything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8qFvo2qJOU This is quite amazing.
It's been over two years without a major scandal in the Whithouse, and that's good enough for me. Better than it's been for since Carter. I think Obama wanted to prove he was not just another tax and spend democrat so he put himself in the hands of Wall Street mistaking traders for economists. And the economists he did surround himself with were democrats not economists. It's a moot point now. What cracks me up is republicans who say the gov can't create jobs and that Perry would be better for the economy. If the gov can't do anything, how is Perry going to be any better? Regulations? What regulations? Everybody complains about it but nobody can name one that's costing them anything.(other than Obama care. Now how are they going to mandate an unemployed man buy health insurance/) The only thing the gov can do is tax and spend. They can't spend much more and they can't tax much more. So I'd say their days are just about over. (at least their haydays.)
Read that Hazlitt pdf....seriously. Your nom de plume might be Oldtimer, but I really am an oldtimer, and this book helped me see the light when I was first starting out, and I suspect that it wouldn't hurt you or anyone for that matter.
oh ok, I'll read it as soon as I get off my shift here at the C Store. Since we're not going to raise my Mimimum Wage my times not worth that much anyway. Man! It's amazing how many customers get lined up when you're back here in the office posting on the computer.
Before you cut taxes, how about taking a chainsaw to the budget. I could get behind this. http://www.foxbusiness.com/on-air/stossel/blog/2011/07/29/take-chainsaw-budget-2#ixzz1TeFclyEr Cut the government by 42% right now. We could live with only 58% of the government.
There are a lot of ways to eliminate taxes and some of those ways are not always legal. You will be surprised to find that many choose the less then legal approach to eliminate taxes...
Yes, there's those that choose and there's those that chose. But I can't talk right now, I'm reading noko's Hazlet pdf. It's pretty cool, reminds me of the books I used to get in the library when I was a kid. Copyrighted in 1946 or 7. Real print, not like that digital stuff you kids today read. I saw a program on tv about how they do it. One guy actually holds the page open while another guy takes a picture of it. At anyrate, the first page looks interesting.
look I dont know what your worried about, the bush tax cuts state by the year 2011 our federal debts will be paid off,,we still got time for republican economic theories to work out, I voted for President Bush, so get on board, dont lose the faith in the laffer curve.
If you've ever been in business, you'll have your own list much longer than this. I can name a couple (might be small potatoes but it's a big deal to the taxing authorities). If you collect sales tax, the privilege of being a bookkeeper for the state will cost you $50. If you put a sign on your building, you will pay $ per sq ft to hang a sign. This guy I know bought an existing business, the local gov't told him he had to plant 2 trees @ $150 each. Wait till the fire marshall walks in unannounced and inspects your fire extinguishers and fines you for them being out of date or you have empty cardboard boxes laying around, your ass is grass. You think your mother in law is a pain in the ass wait'll till you get a visit from these guys. Check out BID's (business improvement districts, esp nyc) some of these guys make 6 figures with your money to improve your business.
