Will Colin Powell Switch Parties

Discussion in 'Politics' started by seneca_roman, May 6, 2009.

  1. Recently, the leader of the Republican party, aka Rush Limbaugh, said that Powell should become a Democrat.

"What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party" said Rush on his show Weds 5/6.

Looks like a internal war in the Republican camp is spilling out.

I think CP will make the switch before the month is done.

thanks but no thanks...Its amazing how all these people are trying to back out of the sinking ship...he had his moment to speak up when it would have counted...he is a fair weather friend...he lost a lot of credibility backing the most inane logic and arguments for invading a country that had not attacked us in any shape or form.Unfortunately it was a disastrous decision and he is to blame along with others and thats the cross he has to bear now for the rest of his days.

  3. I agree. He should be remembered for his speech before the UN, the one where he laid out Iraq's weapon of mass distruction program, and then how he tried pass the blame on to other members of the Bush administration when nothing of significance was ever found in Iraq. Amazingly, most Democrats gave him a pass on this (perhaps because of his skin color) and chose to castigate the rest of the Bush administration instead. On those lines he'd make a fine Democrat, most would say he already is.

oh yeah....there were not many willing to speak truth to power...spineless...the real tragedy was the opposition didnt oppose...they acquiecsed because they feared looking unpatriotic and getting voted out.Instead of making a moral stand they took a professional stand.

btw,the un speech he gave sounded like bs at the time.It had about the same persuasion power as a cartoon.

  5. Agreed 100%

  6. The only time Colin Powell can get in the news is when he is trashing the republican party. He is old news. No one gives a crap what eh thinks or says. He claims to be so concerned about the republican party, but he endorsed Obama over his decades long friend McCain. He is about as principled as Arlen Specter. At least Specter had the balls to actually run for public office. Powell wants to be in charge without ever getting elected to anything.
