Oh NO I am not supporting the mass murders you mention. They are basically the same selfish uncaring bastards as Capitalists.
Even though their entire ideology is anti-capitalist? Personality traits, both good and bad transcend politics, to say all arrogant people are capitalists and all nice people are socialists is pretty hilarious. In fact the most selfish arrogant people I know are mostly socialists. They have such a high opinion of what OTHER people should do with their lives and their money and then when they run out of money, which they always do, claim people are selfish and arrogant when they are asked to cough up more of their hard earned money for other people. Begs the question, why are you on a forum dedicated to one of the most free market, self motivated industries on the planet if all capitalists are uncaring bastards?
Fundamentally, it's very simple... To paraphrase Churchill (who paraphrased someone else): capitalism is the worst system, except for all those other systems that have been tried from time to time. There's nothing perfect under the sun, because we humans are very imperfect beings. Capitalism is the best compromise we've currently been able to come up with. However, it's stupid to deny that capitalism has flaws. We can just try to make sure that we minimize the negative aspects and achieve the optimal cost/benefit tradeoff.
Capitalism is the ONLY system. Any flaws are deviations from capitalism. Capitalism doesn't prohibit socialism. Capitalism embraces socialism and then buys it when it is low and sells it when it is high.
Very good point. Capitalism is just human nature being harnessed so most people benefit from it. There is inequality. But the poorest people in a capitalist society are richer than 90% of people in alternative systems.. apart form the 'sharing caring' leaders that make off with fortunes. When things get too heated we revert back to a socialist style model for a bit and then it gets rejected and we move on. Last time they tried something close to socialism here in the UK (1970's) everyone went on strike. Garbage was piling up in the streets, power-cuts most evenings, lost all our industrial manufacturing because the workers union only wanted to work 3 days a week and what they produced was dreadful as the government kept supporting them. The people that lived through that predominantly vote to the right now and always will. Unfortunately the 18-25 yr olds that have no recollection or education of that want socialism. I fear we will try it again, have another crap 10 years and then move on again.
The "Black Death" also wiped out 200 million people in less than 10 years, taking out almost 60% of Europe. Stephen Hawking's last month: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2016...g-says-earth-may-be-doomed-in-1000-years.html
He has also recently warned us about the dangers of time travel and that any aliens we meet are likely to be hostile. Man i thought i worried about the unlikely! ;-)
you are completely mal informed.. japan is not a free market, what we have in the united states right now is the growing of the central government and a interventionist state.. The idea that capitalism created trump is completely ridiculous.. I did not vote for trump and i do not endorse his interventionist protectionist ideals of fervent nationalism.. I think you should open your mind a litlte and read some political science and economics that isn't the status quo you hear on the news.. The system of incentives created through a bureaucracy is the opposite of what is created through the free market. and yes Capitalism creates a downward pressure on prices..
I feel sorry for you guys in the States. Brainwashed by " The American Dream " etc.. Living in cloud cuckoo land expecting to get rich any moment now ! To most it will never happen. The Trumps of your world will have got their hands on the surplus money and are busy stashing it with their other billions where you will never get near it. Having grown up believing in Batman, Superman, SpiderMan etc. I suppose it's hardly surprising. Your politicians are able to waste $ trillions in The Middle East for next to no return and no one even objects. Have most of you lost your power of reasoning ? Believing the usual flag waving bullshit of " Making America Great Again " ? Excuse my ignorance of not remembering when was the last time. 1776 perhaps ? I hate to pop your bubbles, but really.
Capitalism is a great teacher of self responsability through the law of cause and effect. But whatever the system that governs access to life's necessities is, it will have to address a few major unresolved issues. Unless we get some breakthrough in interstellar travel soon to allow colonization of other star systems, we have to realize that exponential growth cannot happen in a finite biosphere. We need to learn to get along peacefully with each other and with nature. The meaning of life is probably not the accumulation of material things or gaining dominion over the free will or right to exist of other human beings. Our technological development has surpassed our consciousness development at the moment but nature has a way to find balance (do you think our world would survive if every current human had the power of the sun in their pocket to use for whatever ends they see fit?).
