"Why won't God heal amputees?"

  1. Dear Jesus,

By speaking in half-baked riddles and perpetuating the spread of sanctimonious goo, you merely manage to waste your time and other people's. How about finding a more worthwhile hobby?

    cordially,

  2. Mother of mercy -- Benny Hinn must need a wheelbarrow to cart those balls around: https://www.bennyhinn.org/donate/donatenow.cfm?referrer=na_dove1&CFID=68

...we have recently taken delivery on our Gulfstream G4SP plane, which we call Dove One. I have enclosed a beautiful photo-filled brochure to explain more about this incredible ministry tool that will increase the scope of our abilities to preach the Gospel around the globe. Now we must pay the remainder of the down payment, and I am asking the Lord Jesus to speak to 6,000 of my precious partners to sow a seed of $1,000 in the next ninety days. And I am praying, even as I write this letter, that you will be one of them!

I know that as you obey the Lord, He will open heaven wide and cause a mighty harvest of blessings to descend upon your life and all that you do!

and why are they dying? Even cavemen adapted to hunting and gathering to nourish their bodies. There are many bodies of waters in and surrounding Africa, why don't they go fish ? Or eat clams ? Or eat crabs ? What do those being oppressed need ? They need the strength to rise up against those holding them down. I never said life is fair, and bad things often happen to good people. Often these people turn their back on GOD when the going gets tough and their faith is tested. They blame GOD for their problems when in reality they made their own bed through poor choices.

  4. what are u kidding me?

there's no fucking food that's why they are dying. there's nothing that can sustain animals there aint nothing growing because of the soaring temperatures and aridity. in ethiopia there's only one river and there's fierce competition amongst existing fishermen, killing each other for a freaking meal. what u want them to walk 100s or thousands of miles to go search for food? do u understand the implications and logistical issues? do u even think before u post? go visit the region and come back with a solution, your post is childish ignorant and utterly repulsive.

  5. Wake up man -- stop being a jerk.

Ask yourself why the God you worship lets stuff like this happen every day... while Benny Hinn's flock buys him a jet.

Hello ! Do you understand the term nomadic ? Do you understand the term choice ? How and the hell do you think those people got there in the first place ? Call me crazy but if I was starving and their was nothing to eat, I damn sure would start walking until I find some grass, animals, or fish instead of just sitting there doing nothing waiting on some westerner to sponsor me and send me rice. Those choose not to be proactive. And if that was my kid in the picture, I damn sure would have them on my back carrying them to a place where something is edible. Once again it comes down to a choice.

  7. You would start... walking. Okay. Whatever you say.

    The mind boggles.

What would you do ? Stay there and starve ? There are 2 types of people in life, those that let things happen, and those that make things happen. Maybe you think I am being sarcastic but I personally met a man who walked from Guatalmala to the United States because there was not enough work to feed his family and he was bound and determined to make a better life and to provide for them. I also spoke with some of his friends whom he lived with and who had made the same journey. They all told me they walked because they had no other choice and could not afford to ride a bus. There are people in Ethiopa who are not starving right now, and those who are. What do you think the difference is between these two groups ?

Look at that picture and think about this verse:

Matthew chapter 6:25, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all."

  10. You are missing the point, utterly and completely.

The very fact that you can make the above statement--that you have access to a keyboard to type it on--indicates that you are extremely fortunate.

Not because you deserve it, or because you earned it, but simply via plain dumb luck. This is true of myself also.

You and I have already won the lottery so to speak. There are hundreds of millions if not billions of people in this world who are born with zero chance of getting ahead... or as statistically close to zero as one can get. If you think everyone has an equal shot in this life, you are a fool.

If you are the bastard child of a rape victim in Sudan, what do you think your chances are? If you are born into a war-torn region where genocidal conflicts are a routine occurrence and your only hope of getting fed is joining a militia at the age of ten, what do you think your chances are? If your odds of survival past the age of five are a 50/50 shot because you have no access to clean drinking water... if you have no time for reading or writing because you have to scrounge for dry roots from sunup to sundown... if the culture you were born into offers no education, no economic opportunity, no emphasis on self-worth at all, what do you think your chances are?

Do you really think that Tony Robbins type motivational statements mean shit to uneducated, malnourished, aids-ridden orphans living in blighted ghettos with trash and destitution as far as the eye can see? Are you that blind as to the huge advantages of being born into civilized society, or the nearly impossible odds of starting with far less than nothing?

If you truly believe "God helps those who help themselves" is helpful advice for the poor and destitute, you are clueless.

And the fact that you profess a belief in God is truly ironic... all I can say is Thank God for godless heathens like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

That is the thing that pisses me off about all the talk of compassionate theism. Half the theists spend their time absolving God of atrocities, while yet claiming Him omnipotent... and the other half just shrug and assume whoever suffers in this world deserves it. Talk about callous.

Meanwhile, the pagans (Gates et al) are the ones left to actually quantify the problem and "make things happen."
