It reminds me of the old Taoist story about the farmer who keeps saying, "Maybe" when others label events as fortunate or unfortunate.
Unfortunately, a farmer fell out of his hayloft window. Fortunately, there was a haystack below it. Unfortunately, there was a pitchfork in the haystack. Fortunately, he missed the pitchfork. Unfortunately, he missed the haystack.
And yet, some people keep picking the same cheap, waxy chocolates and acting surprised when they taste awful. 'Pema Chödrön is an American Buddhist nun, teacher, and author, best known for her works on mindfulness, compassion, and dealing with uncertainty. Born Deirdre Blomfield-Brown in 1936, she became one of the most well-known Western teachers in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Her books, such as When Things Fall Apart and The Places That Scare You, focus on resilience, embracing discomfort, and using life's challenges as opportunities for growth. I'd have changed my name too.
@Ricter ? Echopulse makes a statement. Unfortunately, it’s wrong. Fortunately, he doubles down. Unfortunately, that’s wrong too. Fortunately, he shifts the goalposts. Unfortunately, they fall over and hit him in the face.
I'm just a Speedy guy, or I was until my daughter appropriated them. She's right, I only need a phone anyway... Sigh.
Oh, sure, Democrats are open to whomever holds different views and identities—just ask the countless people they’ve silenced, deplatformed, and thrown under the bus for daring to have a different opinion. They’re the poster children for selective tolerance, where “open arms” only extend to those who blindly agree with them. Open-minded? Sure, if by “open-minded” you mean openly hostile to anyone who doesn’t fall in line. Tolerant? Absolutely—unless you’re a conservative, a libertarian, a centrist, or anyone who doesn’t worship at the altar of woke orthodoxy. Never cancel anyone? Oh, please. Cancel culture is practically their love language. Disagree with them? Enjoy being erased from public life, losing your job, and getting dragged on social media by their mob of self-righteous keyboard warriors. Welcome all ideas? Yeah, as long as those ideas are theirs. Anything else gets labeled as “hate speech,” “misinformation,” or “problematic” and promptly tossed into the memory hole. Democrats are the kings and queens of hypocrisy, wrapping their intolerance in a shiny bow of faux virtue. They’ll preach about unity while tearing families apart over politics, scream about inclusivity while excluding anyone who doesn’t toe the party line, and lecture about compassion while ruining lives over a single tweet. But sure, they’re the bastions of openness and tolerance. Give me a break.
