Straw man argument. We are not talking about a "gun free" America. I personally think that all firearms other than long guns with internal magazines of five or less capacity should be banned. If one cannot defend their home with say, five shotguns and five rifles all with five rounds each, then there is something wrong with you. And carrying? Why? It's stupid. This is 2018 and the US. If someone pulls a gun on you out in the streets and demands the three dollars in your pocket, you give it to him. I know the idea of that bothers some macho fools.
I already said I agree with TsingSth on this in that the train has left that enforcing a total gun ban will never work. Hence that point is moot. But we can do other things which I listed in detail a few pages ago.
Yeah I think all this consumerism has washed some peoples' brain and injected a mosquito that constantly whispers into their ears that they need guns because a home invasion or even worse, a rogue gone government attack is imminent. Let the professionals handle crime control and prevention. I know, I know we are far away from such ideal but who said one cannot dream.
I don’t own firearms because of the 2A. It’s not accidental/coincidental that I’ve never been charged with a crime. Lawful behavior allows me the privilege of firearms ownership. What is the benefit of a firearms collection to the paranoid, helpless fearful individual? Ostensibly the schizo that fell between the cracks can get by with one gun. Activism intended on confiscating my guns will have zero impact on Chicago gang crime. The source(s) of the majority of firearms seized after the commission of a crime in Chicago are Mexico and South America. We don’t make Taurus handguns, AKs or FALs here in the States.
lol so you are suggesting reprogramming. Are you questions rhetorical? I had an uninvited guest in my loft last weekend. I didn’t shoot him so logic dictates that I no longer need a firearm.
Are you willing to physically go door to door in order to confiscate the 200 million firearms that do not meet your criteria already in legal ownership by law abiding citizens or are you going to grandfather them in ? Don't bring up buyback because that won't work here except for fencing operations and there's serious research out there now that questions the effectiveness (in terms of the percentage of civilian-owned firearms taken out of public circulation) of the Australian program.
5 guns and 5 rifles? Wanna hand your 3 year old one as well and grandma sits in the rocker with the shot gun and who else? Why is 1 not enough? I never ever heard of a home invasion that failed when an entire gang descended on an ordinary home and some daddy superhero shot 5 uzi carrying gangbangers to pieces. Have you? Generally one is toast when that happens and probably one really fukked with someone to deserve this coming to one.
Simple answer: then let's not pretend we are such technologically advanced nation where we can't even monitor what enters our country. Let's fix that first. And here is another simple answer why gun ownership and acquisition has to be more carefully regulated. : because a few lunatics and crazies fuxx it up for the rest of us (mean you) . Sorry to put it so bluntly. I am all in on maximum freedom but unfortunately there are some idiots out there who can't handle a life with guns without killing others. And a life to me is always worth infinitely more than a gun fetish.
Again, please answer the big question. There are somewhere around 330 million firearms already in civilian possession in the United States. 42 percent of US households own a firearm. Are you willing to physically go door to door in order to confiscate the 200 million or so firearms that do not meet your criteria already in legal ownership by law abiding citizens or are you going to grandfather them in ? Don't bring up buyback because that won't work here except for fencing operations and there's serious research out there now that questions the effectiveness (in terms of the percentage of civilian-owned firearms taken out of public circulation) of the Australian program.
