Yep, blah blah bah is right! The minute jack hershey is shown to be a fool, in both theory and practice, who, but who comes running to his defense! suma66 aka etc. *** LOL, lets hear it for the multi-alias trolls ... all it takes is an email account and a dream!
It is called INSPIRATION-and Mr.E is like Homer-and Trader999 is Ion-it is like Socratres was talking about the pair of them. As mentioned by some posters-this is the height of inexperience-and inexperienced children can only resort to one thing-silly statements and name calling-it is like the school playground all over again. I will "spell" it out again-for those who have some difficulty in understanding-backtesting is a total waste of time-period. Trade the here and now-forget about the past-let the dead be buried-do not look to far ahead as you are more than likely be fooled by the many foxes that dwell in the big trading forest. The General
You are an even bigger child than Trader999. Why don't both of you stop sucking your thumbs and get your head out of your asses? The General
Come on Major, you can't tell me you haven't tipped the missus over on a Saturday night and done a little backtesting of your own.. wink wink nudge nudge
Well-at least that type of backtesting might get you somewhere-or something-but the other type will get you nowhere-or nothing. Enough of that vile animal behaviour instinct from you lot-keep your silly words where they are best kept-in your mouths. This is "trading" website-in case you lot have not noticed? The General
And you're the biggest hershey stooge of all. Why don't you get you head out of the sand by way of your ass and try to see the light?
LOL This phrased being used in connnection with defending jack hershy by nothing less than (another) multi-alias troll. Perfect
What you've described (curve fitting) is flawed backtesting. That's like saying hammers are worthless tools because driving screws with them doesn't work. One can't use charts and also reasonably and intelligently dismiss backtesting because both use past data... only backtesting is more objective. From the comments people have made it's clear they don't have even a basic understanding of backtesting. Not only do I KNOW for a fact that backtesting is a valid concept from my own experience, here's a quote from a world class trader on it... ignorant people will dismiss this as well but nobody who's ever posted on ET is even in the same league as William Eckhardt. "I know of no way to validate conjectures concerning technical trading without back testing" --William Eckhardt
