Why they were hiding the recession for a year?

It's been - what - nine months since Bear went tits-up? Seems to me the problems have been in plain view for a long, long time.

Whether folks chose to see it or not is an entirely different question...

 

The same reason gas prices go down at election time when the republicans are in control.
