    1) Who is "we"? The entitlement/welfare/parasite class and their bleeding heart liberal cheerleaders?
    2) I wonder how many traders here think the same of you?

speak for yourself, I'm done with hard work, that's for suckers.

I have hatched a new scheme, I'm afraid to put it out in a public forum. Didn't know I had it in me, it's kind of fun.

    impossible?

Even an amicable/friendly split is impossible. We don't have the geographic separation that existed between North and South before the civil war. You're talking about Right and Left and we are all mixed together to varying degrees all over the country. If the country were divided by states then there would have to be mass migration that would probably kill the economy. People wouldn't agree to leave their state if it went to the other side. Its just impossible.

In the case of an unfriendly split it would be a situation where a state was predominantly Right or Left and the minority would have to leave so millions of people would be displaced and you've got a dead economy again. All through history every civil war was based on there being some geographical separation between sides. Here there is no land demarcation between Right and Left.

Even a revolt would not work. If the conservatives in the USA decided to not pay federal income tax how would they go about doing that? For the vast majority of people taxes are deducted from their paycheck and adjusted at the end of the year resulting in an additional payment or a refund. How can a person refuse to pay when the money is deducted before they receive their paycheck? Even if they refuse to file a federal income tax return in most cases the government would come out ahead because most people overpay their taxes and receive a refund. There isn't, to my view, any way to even have an effective revolt in this country.

We are screwed, plain and simple.

As I've said, the best thing I can think of is to game the system and take money from the government in every form possible. Think of it as doing a partial John Galt. Compensate for increased taxation: take assistance, get grants, refuse to pay for any media (newspaper, cable tv, satellite tv, satellite radio), cut all charitable contributions, eschew all social contact with liberals (such as is possible), patronize businesses that do not charge sales tax, defer income, accept non-traditional compensation, do business under the radar. If enough people did these things it would break the system all the sooner and the liberals would be forced to their senses when they cannot pay for the entitlements they've doled out.

Same here, I'm only saying about half of what I'm going to do. The other half I leave to the imagination. :D

You guys know that most bank robbers eventually get caught and spend hard time behind bars, don't you? That might not be so bad if it weren't for the sex with some big hairy black guy.

what I am going to do is legal, but it's a slimy gaming of the government, goes against my old ethics

always use your opponents inertia against him, financial ju-jitsu

I will reveal one future item. My parents are leaving me some land. The gov't will pay us to plant trees near wetlands. The other portion is being rented out for crops, I'll keep that up because tax rates are lower on farmland and the rent pays for the taxes. Can almost go off grid...

good points, however I think a federation model has some merit. Thinly populated western states have the best shot since the people would already be pretty homogeneous in their politics. They could pay defense and other discretionary taxes but be left alone to run their own social welfare. We have forms of that already with states having their own welfare systems. California is screwing california with their public employee pension problems, as it should be.

The problem is that these a-holes will not stop until they have a chokehold on everyone.
