Why the wealthy voted for Obama and higher taxes.

  1. What you are saying is true. Conservatives have no problem spending billions to start wars, to give tax breaks to oil companies, etc.

It isn't about the money, it is about how the money is spent.

If it is spent to help poor Americans, they are generally against it.

If the money is spent nation building in Iraq, they are all for it.

  2. Treason?
There's that reference to men again, and this time in italics, so they must be big, strapping, manly men.

  3. Very good post.

I guess it goes to show that some well to do folks who know their way around money also recognize that "cheaper" is not necessarily always better, and that it may end up costing even more in the long run. Hmm. Who to believe? Well-educated, self-made affluent voters, or uneducated, rural bible-thumpers? Tough call.

  4. Grow up. 99% of McCain voters have never seen a no-bid contract whereas 70% of Democrats have their hand directly in the Federal government's pocket.

The middle class is so distrustful of government that if McCain could've been even a semi-articulate proponent of Reaganomics he would've won. As his he still DECISIVELY carried the white middle class vote even with the sword of Bush and a charismatic opponent.

State and local governments give us everything from schools to police to public health to paved streets. Washington gives us defense of Israel and a zillion departments that do nothing but keep 2.6 million incompetents on the payroll. With generous entitlements. of course.

When the economy finally goes full tilt into calamity tax payers will start questioning their every expense. The day people start scrutinizing government is the day it stops existing.........

  5. NEWSFLASH: REAGAN IS DEAD, SO IS HIS "REVOLUTION"

You apparently don't seem to realize that a whole generation is growing up and it does not give a shit about Reagan.

You said something about states giving us schools? But don't you oppose public education? That is a good one!(I highlighted schools for laughs).

There is a place for both state and federal government. But federal government has to be supreme otherwise it is worthless.

Just because US went on an Imperialist rampage does not mean the idea of a federal government is wrong.

  6. Not a chance. Reaganomics is supply side economics, which is top down economics. Top down "economics" is a voodoo religion shared by aristocracies and Third World dictatorial regimes. Bottom up is what creates a healthy, robust and progressive society of genuine opportunity and, therefore, a thriving middle class.

"Top down" is like when GS was given what appears to be a poorly structured bailout package that it then largely paid out in bonuses. So much for trickle down, eh?

  7. Conservatives are obsessed with money, money, money.

Oh yes, social right wing issues matter...and maybe more than money.

But is it really about social issues that relate to their own life, or the lives of others?

They want to control what others do, and are greedy as hell. They want others to think the same way as they do, and if you disagree with them, then their is no middle ground.

Extremist thinking is wrong, left or right.

Reasonable discussion is the hallmark of a sane mind.

  10. Apparently that list is just wage earners.

Old money sitting in bonds makes a hell of a lot more than what shows up in that list.

Rancho Sante Fe CA is one of the wealthiest communities on earth, but they earn their money the old fashioned way...through investments, especially dividend bearing kinds that Bush gave tax breaks to.

Oh sure, they took that savings on the tax they would have paid on dividends and started new businesses to hire people....fat fucking chance....
