Why the need to post PnL, real-time calls, etc?

Could have said 99%. In that case I am going to say that the main reason you haven't used your regular nik on ET is because you are a chicken, 100% certain on that one.

And you are wrong about regular positive PnL posters:

    a) you can't be certain whether the image is indeed a genuine representation of actual PnL;

    b) posters with consistent positive PnL I would say are respected by many ET members.

  2. Cuts, I guess the question begs to be asked: why did you (anyone?) post phony trade results? What was the personal payoff for such?

I myself would never post phony data and risk the ceaseless humility of being outed. Can you imagine how inwardly painful that would be? I often wonder what "bluffers" think = feel when called to the carpet in life, and they can't deliver.

Reminds me of days long ago when playing 8-ball for $100 man in country bars where the other team lost and sheepishly confessed to having empty pockets.

Seriously, and I mean no disrespect at all... what possessed you to fudge data before? How did that make you feel about yourself inside?

Just curious about human nature, that's all. No offense, and best regards :>)

And I can see that you have a lot of experience you worldly guy you.

Once you start generalizing everybody else based on your own actions you get what you deserve.

  4. Real time calls aren't fake calls, they just don't have real money behind. Look, I was just trying to answer the questioned posed at the beginning of this thread - why ppl post real time calls. The reason is because they are trying to convince themselves that they have what it takes to trade and posting for all to see is as close you can to being held accountable without putting real money behind it. Sorta like holding up a newspaper next to a hostage - whether or not the terrorist is bluffing - it's taking place in real-time concurrent with unpredictable events. That's all I'm saying - that paper traders who post are close to opening an account, but haven't yet.

  5. Cuts, fair enough... I merely wondered what goes thru someone's mind in such a situation. From what I interpret, it was your version of holding your own feet to the fire.

One thing we all learn for an absolute fact with no exceptions: trade results vary widely when there is no money at risk, sufficient capital at risk and too much capital at risk per trade. The exact-same trade setup and management will be handled far differently in each of those scenarios.

I'll also reiterate what others said earlier: not everyone posts fake data. Some people simply don't have the nerve = can't risk being outed... they have credibility on the line. Others are merely dead-level honest with no motive to lie. In life, there is never a wrong way to do the right thing.

Yes... those character traits really are alive & well amidst the masses out there :>)

    Thank you for the input

  7. to prove to others that it can be done, and to create some accountability for themself. if they know their calls are going to be documented, they are going to make sure they research those calls. why would someone posting real time calls bother anyone.

  9. Rennick, three of the ladies whom I've known for many years are friends of my ex-wife (we're still close friends ourselves) and one is a current friend of mine along with her husband as equal friends.

I do not condone that type of behavior at all, nor do I judge anyone for their actions. It places me in an extremely difficult situation with the current friend - husband because she is cheating with another mutual friend. Swears she's leaving her husband for him: it's been going on for months, sometimes I'm in public with all three at once.

    "Desperate Housewives" gone country?

Sorry to go off-topic on the thread... it was only a sidenote to address the "guys are liars & cheats" comment. I think both sexes are equally trustworthy (or not) with females far savvier than us hapless men :>O

  10. In these days of Kinkos and Photoshop I would say a PnL ain't what it used to be. Sorry, I don't get why everyone feels the need to whip out their chingones to compare size. I could care less about someones PnL, that's their business. I can say that in real life whenever I here someone bragging about their bank account size I don't believe it. Myself, I always poor mouth so that I don't get hit up. Unless of course I'm BSing some hot babe down at the local watering hole. Then I'm the guy that makes Rockerfeller look like a pauper. Like Bugs Bunny would say "Aint I a Stinker".

    Rennick out:cool:
