Why the market is lack of volatility?

Plenty of stocks out there with intraday volatility. Markets seem very normal to me at this point, nothing stands out. Perhaps you started in 2008 and consider that volatility to be the norm (it's not).

Most of 2014 up until the last few weeks has resembled 2007 in terms of an overvalued, overly complacent stock market and very low vol across almost all asset classes.

Curious to hear your views as to what comes next.

Again, I have no idea where you are getting this from. There are too many guys on this site that ONLY watch the S&P 500 or only trade "big name" stocks. They have a very myopic view of the overall market. I mean we have the US Dollar (futures contract) put in the largest and strongest move since like 1967!!!!!! Look at Live Cattle, which actually has an ongoing thread on this very site. That looks normal and complacent to you? LOL. Oh yeah, I know, I know, you don't trade that stuff, you just watch FB, GOOG and AAPL and ES. Yeah, I got it. I would agree if our only metric of vol was the ES and large cap stocks, then nothing is moving. But good God, we have more markets to trade today then at any point in history. And some of them are making epic moves. And before anyone comes on here and crys about not wanting to trade futures, almost all these markets have ETFs.

Yes I meant until the recent period of high volatility started in the last several weeks. I'm talking about the declining vol from 2009 onwards. Right now we have huge amounts of it in most markets APART FROM equity indices, which are at all time highs. Hence my comparison to 2007, when vol started picking up in non stock markets first.
