I don't really mind if people use profanity or curse words when they communicate online. It is a known fact that people often behave differently in virtual interactions than they do in real life, adopting a persona that is different from their actual selves. In reality, most of these people are capable of behaving appropriately and having meaningful conversations. What I'm really concerned about are the self-proclaimed "traders" who lack any real achievements but still insist on offering unwanted advice to others about trading strategies, platforms, and methodologies. In this industry, newcomers can easily be fooled into thinking that anyone who knows even a tiny bit more than they do is a "genius". However, over time, one can learn to distinguish between those who truly have expertise and those whose knowledge is limited to theory and has no practical application.
I met once, over the phone, a guy that was really toxic on this forum. He was looking for a developer to get something done. After a few phones calls, around 5 hours in total, I started to wonder if I was talking to the same guy, so I asked him the simple question: - "Why are you that toxic on ET?" His reply hit me: - "Is that not the point of that forum?" Then I understood that some people make a difference between their online persona and their real them. And they join these discussion boards to troll others on purpose. Me, personally, if I start an argument with someone online is because in real life it would be even worse. I would punch that wanker right in the face if I had the chance. So I don't make a difference at all.
I wonder what sort of communication led to this much anger for you to make a thread of this. Though I don't disagree with your point here.
Fucken top Post Matty. You're a smart Kunt. If you wanna see Anger, catch @Overnight on a bad Day, after some gentle "ribbing" from myself and some others like @vanzandt I adhere to the ET philosophy of "if you've got nothing bad to say about someone, don't say anything ar all".
From what I encounter in stores and on the roadways and such, in America there are in general a LOT of increasingly angry people, not just online. More polarization, short fuses, willingness to use violence against people with the opposite political viewpoints, or even viewpoints on the recent Covid Chaos, etc. So many drivers flipping each other off, or verbally threatening each other. And even within families there are those now who will not speak to each other because of which senior citizen they want to be on the throne for another 4 years! In my younger quite idealistic days I never thought I would be so pessimistic about the possibilities for outright civil war. This is going to be one Hell of a year I suspect. And some of the rage out there can easily bleed into those of us who are actively engaged in the world of trading. I would imagine there might be a few on here who made a few bad trades here and there because of still being distracted, even if on a subconscious level, by something out there that made them so angry. I get out into deep wilderness on a regular basis to help purge all the negativity and NOISE that is all around us ... looking forward to some mountain climbing here in a few days!
It is not anger, Americans use the word "fuck" too flippantly. I even notice this with my Dad who is almost 80. It is like we are both trying to shock each other with the linguistic use of "fuck" but it is an arms race.
Really? But he's such a sweet pooch. Plus, being an adorable klutz that he is, he loves backstabbing his own fellow Jewish schmucks. Oy!
Most of the angry man you see on this site have been bullied all their lives. They are so called keyboard warriors with big mouths online but in real life they are very different.
