Why participate in a thread you dislike?

  1. Mr. Moderator, this thread is as lame as they come, but if you will please indulge it for a bit....yet as always, I respect your call.

When a thread is started that just irks the heck out of you for any reason, why do you participate in it? Actually, the members I am asking are the ones who participate repeatedly in a thread that clearly irks them, not just once.

I'm not talking about some of the threads in Chit Chat that are set up for debate... like religion etc. A thread such as The SP is Toppy or whatever more fits the bill here.

Simply speaking, I see it similar to sniffing a carton of sour milk, realizing that the smell disgusts you, but then sniffing it again a little later. What.... you thought maybe between earlier and later, things might have changed?

    I'm just curious.

Maybe because trading from jail is hard IMHO. Kicking dogs and beating spouses and kids will get you into trouble.

Here they can rant, rave and pick fights. For some, that may be all they're looking for.

  3. You know cd', I think that's an excellent answer. Maybe it is as simple as that.

I'm not hawking over this thread btw.... I'm leaving in a bit for a few hours, but I sure hope some others post their theories or reasons.

One thing for sure, I am not trying to pick a fight or demean anyone.

Ohhh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Inandlong, that analogy is hilarious!!

I think the truth is, though, that is more like sniffing glue for some. They know it isn't good for them but they just gotta do it one more time for the thrill.

I'm just participating in this thread because it irked the heck out of me for some reason.

Sorry I missed you this morning. I was too busy taking scant gains on great setups.

  8. Why this current obsession with proof? Just because I say I have a girlfriend doesn't mean I have to post a screenshot of her. Yet once challenged, the onus is on me to do so. Sad state of affairs. And since I've already mentioned her ....

  9. I suppose that to some people, ranting and raving is a form of entertainment.

  10. OK, but now we want to see her picture before her extreme makeover...:D :D
