I'm not a democrat. I'm not sure what the question is, too many double negatives or else I'm tired after a long day.
Everything is out there for you to read for free. A website and two very easy, and interesting books. Taxes interesting? Well, I say that, because it is such a great idea and such a good example of taking something so ridiculously complicated and breaking it down to extreme simplicity.
Again, it's the details that count. I completely agree that taxes should be simplified. I've been through the pain in the blank nightmares for years and still hate it. We all know that it will never work that way, however, as transparency isn't in the interests of bureaucrats and the ultra wealthy.
I remember in 1940 my dad figuring and then paying his income tax by writing a check. When the check in later years became excessively large the federal government instituted tax withholding. They knew the stupid people would accept gradualism without complaint if the money was taken from them before they got there grubby hands on it. The world keeps changing. If anything changes for the worse you can bet a government agency is involved. A tax of 23% on every transaction should not be tolerated. Government income is not the problem. THE PROBLEM IS GOVERNMENT SPENDING. Don't say that the people demand it. That's hogwash. People in Hell want ice water ,but they damn sure ain't going to get it!
Flat tax.. 15% ....across the board. Those in low income still use state and fed services....so, NO FREE LUNCH...sorry.
Simple math: a highroller is making 2 million a year. Normal tax would be say 700,000. With your fairtax if he spent every penny, taxes paid $460,000. Now say he is motivated by the new tax rate and puts 1.5 million in savings and spends $500,000, taxes paid $115,000. Guess who makes up the difference, that's right cowboy, you and me.
fully agree. Lets not make life more difficult than it is. Tax is on income not on money spend. I dont want to pay a tax because I eat bread, breathe air... A flat tax on income will of course make the the hard working and educated richer but will not necessarily make poor people poorer. Still the income and wealth gap will widen. And I never had a problem with that, who promised anyone that everyone has a right to earn as much and be as wealthy as their neighbor? Remove EVERY subsidy and deduction under the sun. You know whats going to happen? The government will actually have more money in their pockets than before. FURTHER, disallow ANY sort of donation or political contribution, NOTHING. Instead, each party will be paid a campaign and maintenance fee out of a fund specially set up for such purpose. You will see, from one day to the next all the filth, corruption, and bribery in Washington DC will be gone from one day to the next and the money wasted on tons of projects that were needless but motivated by lobbyists can be saved or spent elsewhere. Result, a country that is ready to compete head to head with the upcoming challenges. Right now, however, the US looks more like Rome looked like right before its demise. Who needs millions of dollar expensive election campaigns? To satisfy the fat and sick couch potatoes? I honestly hope for another huge crash so people really go back to the basics and re-think what is really going on with our lives, people who represent us, and our true values. Sorry, had to let this one go although some points were unrelated...well somehow they are related...
that is utter nonsense. It has been shown in many studies that income is the most direct, fair, and measurable way to measure differentials in living standards NOT spending. Its simply not true that the richest spend the most. Absolutely but we are talking about relative figures. Relatively speaking the richest put most of their money into savings, investments, not spending. Thats why the argument that income is not the best way to tax people does not make any sense!!!
FairTax does not tax food, bread, water, etc. It does not tax the necessities of life. Unfortunately, this would be a violation of the 2nd amendment right to free speech.
