The Prophecy Farce What about all of the prophecy fulfillments? Biblicists almost always ask this question when their belief in biblical inerrancy is challenged. No doubt those who ask the question sincerely believe that prophecy fulfillment is irrefutable proof that the Bible was divinely inspired, but in reality the question reflects a naive view of the Bible for which no credible evidence exists. The "evidence" most often cited by prophecy-fulfillment proponents will usually fall into two categories: (1) Unverifiable claims by biased biblical writers that certain events fulfilled certain prophecies. (2) "Fulfillments" of prophecies that were probably written after the fact. Anyone can successfully refute prophecy-fulfillment assertions by simply demanding clear evidence when confronted with either category of claims. In other words, if a biblicist cites a New Testament claim that such and such event fulfilled such and such prophecy, simply insist on seeing reliable nonbiblical corroboration that the alleged fulfillment event actually happened. Herod's massacre of the children in Bethlehem would be an example of an uncorroborated event. The massacre allegedly fulfilled an Old Testament prophecy (Matt. 2:18), but no one has ever found an extrabiblical source that corroborates the lone biblical reference to this event. If corroborating evidence of a fulfillment event should exist, then demand evidence that the "prophecy" of this event was undeniably written before the event. In the debate over Jeremiah's 70-year prophecy, which resumes in this issue of TSR (pp. 4-11), the demand for clear, undeniable evidence that this prophecy was made before the fact has proven to be an insurmountable hurdle for Dr. Price, who has yet to produce extrabiblical corroboration of the prophecy. http://www.infidels.org/library/magazines/tsr/1998/3/983front.html
The Bible reflects a state of mind that is beyond time. That mind is conflicted between truth and illusion. In truth, time is an illusion. What happens in time is all scripted. The part of the mind in tune with truth can see what's coming. So you will find in the Bible a mix of minds dividing loyalties between truth and illusion. Some aspects of my appearance in time are posited there. But I represent all appearances in time: they are all scripted. This is what I mean when I say that you are not "free". Life in time is a scripted event...one long deja vu from birth to death. And what was scripted for me - crucifixion - is scripted for everyone in time. For time is the crucifixion of immortal beings. Resurrection is off-the-script type thinking. It is the choice to follow a Guide other than the one who wrote your script: the ego. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second, your minds are making a decision between crucifixion or resurrection. I am exceptional only because I was the first to fully grasp resurrection-type thinking. I fully awakened from the dream that is this world. I was the first to accept the phychological remedy given to heal this world. This makes me an older brother, but a brother no less. I oversee the collapse of time via forgiveness and miracles. Jesus
Ah, Jesus, i hope it's OK to ask a dumb question, but why did all those hot young hunks you hung with have British common names -- Ya know like Jimmy, Jhonny, Matt etc. Oh sorry, i just answered my own question: The British copied THEIR names after your buddies names, right? But still why did everyone else have sort of Geeky like names, Ya know like: Ismail, or Isekial, or, well, like your own name, Jesus. Ya know, Jesus, i've been wondering about this. It's none of my business, but you never married, right? Oh, i guess that movie said you did, right? Well assuming you never really married, and the movie is somehow wrong, and you just sort of hung with all those other unmarried guys, Ya know, well, i mean, ah, were you gay or what?
If my name was translated into English more directly from the Aramaic, then you would know me as "Y'shua" or "Jeshua" which is the same as the biblical "Joshua." But it was translated through Greek, and something was lost in translation. That is par for the course for the rest of what's called the "New Testament"...lost in translation. No. I was not married to Mary of Magdalene, although she did move to France with her daughter Sarah...to make way for the inevitable exodus of Jews from Jerusalem, according to my prophecy that is would be destroyed. Two of her son's were killed in skirmishes with the Roman's. Mary was a widow of a very educated man, who opened his knowledge and library to her. She was well traveled, well-studied, and a light among the rest of the apostles. She was ten years older than me and physically ill when I met her relative to her sense of loss. I healed her, and made her an apostle, asking the men to accept her. They were not whole-hearted about that. In those days, only a husband could teach and speak privately his thoughts to women. So for her to be learning from me privately was not "kosher". But I taught her about the equality of God's creation, and she became an apostle to women. You do not realize how much you owe to her relative to the freedom your women enjoy. She wrote extensively, but never signed her true name. Jesus
As for me, my enlightenment wrought DNA changes in the body construct. A progeny based on it would have been very interesting indeed. But I was not interested in starting another race, or any kind of master race. What I did instead was provide you with the truth that changes you from the inside out. The truth is the body is "outside" you. It is not "you". The Kingdom is "within". Only the Kingdom is real, so where does that leave bodies? You are the Kingdom. As far as bodies, they are a product of the ego. And I transcended the ego after some temptation to see it's products as real and valuable. As such, I did not see bodies like you see them. I did not want to see them! I wanted instead to see the face of Christ that is masked by bodies! I can tell you, the sight is much more beatific than anything bodies can offer. See the face of Christ once, and that is all you want. After that, bodies become like shadows...insignificant reminders of the past. What do you really seek for in relationships, gay or otherwise? A state of bliss? You do not know what bliss is until you see the truth as it is, and have direct revelation from God. Words cannot describe. To see bodies is an "attack" on the reality of the Son of God. To make them valuable is to value nothing. So I said, "You have heard, 'Do not commit adultery', but I say to you, 'If you look on a woman to lust after her, you commit adultery in your heart'. The sight of bodies is to dilute - adulterate - the Son of God who contains the meaning of all love. Bodies were not made in love, and cannot make love. To see them is to desire something other than love. Bodies are what were made to destroy the meaning of love...to destroy the Son of God. The key is not to feel guilty because you are not guilty. The key is to see the truth so you can transcend the world. You see what you want to see. But you have a choice about what you see. Jesus
Ah, another poster incapable of original thought or even adding 2-3 words of value add on their own *yawn* Did you even read what you cut and pasted? I have yet to see a skeptic who is capable of getting past their own brilliance to consider other possibilities. Skeptic: person who has little grasp of the complexities of the universe, has little grasp how little the rest of humanity grasps the complexities of the universe, pats him/herself on the back for their self-enlightenment in spite of the fact they know next to nothing, and generally appeal to the works of others because they cannot try to objectively look at both sides. See also "Blind Men and the Elephant."
How can he have a grasp of scripture? In his own head, they were written after he died !!!!! Bwaaaaaaahgahgahaaahahahahahahahahaa nitro
I have yet to see even slightly convincing evidence to the other several thousand religions. I am a theistic evolutionist and calvinistic biblical christian. The scripture is far beyond the others for people who are willing to look objectively. Unfortunately, the skeptics already make up their minds before even starting, and appeal to the works of other similars.
I have a rather poor grasp of greased pigs. Here's an idea... Why not communicate with the Holy Spirit directly so you don't have to appeal to the works of others? Till then, you are predestined to be a mistaken skeptic. The good news is that all are predestined to be saved in time, having already been saved before time ever began as a vast illusion. That includes nitro believe it or not! Jesus
