You can only blow up a bubble for so long before it bursts. I keep asking, how were the Dems going to deal with $2T and rising in deficits? The collapse was going to happen regardless of the party. Trump is maybe going to do a controlled demolition vs. a random earthquake striking in the middle of the night.
It is unfair IF they protect their market from our goods. So now we are going to say: Keep your goods for yourself, or sell to others, or lower your price to absorb the tariffs we will have to pay (if you want to continue selling to us). Canada can sell their oil to Europe and Australia sell their beef to Mexico. Heaven knows Mexico needs better beef. We can grow all the cows we need and fast. The day is here and has arrived that we will now put America first and say good riddance to all who have leeched off us for decades! Now if tariffs are JUST taxes on our own people then why in the hell are these other countries pissed off and worried about? I will tell you. They are going to acquiesce or lose our market. Remember our market well, it is a BIG market. Most Americans I know complain about the steaks now days. Tough...bad taste. Even at high end restaurants. Grain fed beef tastes much better. They buy the imported tough stuff because of the "not so free trade" deals our government has made with other nations that hurts our own production and favor the other nations. We are tired of it. We are fixing it. Now to fixing math problems. We looked at the numbers and they are found wanting. We are fixing them up just right now! Yes, these other nations have been hurting us not helping. Now it is there turn to hurt a bit. A lot, unless they repent.
The US economy is like rotten wood covered over with siding. Trump is sending carpenters to scarf out the rotten wood, to keep a roof over our heads. Your Democracy was usurped by the bureaucracy. Term limits for the entire gov't including lobbyists would force gov't to represent everyday people.
Yes, and Trump has consistently calculated trade balances based only on goods because it suits his narrative, ignoring the often substantial U.S. surplus in services. It was the same in 2018. He is a fundamentally dishonest man, and those who support dishonest men are often not just dishonest themselves, but also prone to self-delusion, unable or unwilling to face uncomfortable truths, and therefore bad at being objective or correct.
America has long dealt, since the Bretton Woods agreement in 1944, with its problems by printing dollars and exporting the consequences, forcing the rest of the world, the 96%, to absorb the inflation, a privilege nobody else has. This is called seigniorage. That's not economic leadership, it’s parasitism when exploited too much. And now the parasite is demanding that the host “repent”? That’s rich. Run large deficits and fund them by issuing more dollars. Export inflation, since those excess dollars circulate abroad. Avoid balance-of-payment crises that most other nations would face under similar deficits. Enough. I’ve had all the textbook tin-pot victimhood, embellished emotional nationalism, loud, aggrieved, and economically incoherent, I can take for one day.
Of Course China, if they have a government as good or better than the U.S has, will eventually overtake the U.S. in GDP at least. You forgot to divide by the respective size of the adult populations.
Oh that damn beef! Just a tiny problem, you didn't account for the billions of dollars of military aircraft and missiles we buy from US nor the billions of dollars of nuclear submarines we are intending to buy from US. Dang these little oversights.... Oh forgot..... we buy your oil, trillions of dollars worth.
