  2. Oh I beg to differ. I think there are probably more than 2 people reading this thread who have a fairly good idea. Indeed, pairs don't have to be pairs. With the proper use of leverage you can turn pears into apples and make a big basket of fruit. Still doesn't stop that big bad bastard of a black swan biting you in the arse every now and again.

Tis a good strategy though and one that many here could learn a lot from.

As I said earlier, this is THE best thread on ET at the moment. I never usually ever bother posting but this one has some high calibre thinkers involved and as I am a total novice I believe I can always learn something from such folk.

  3. Anyway, we digress and I know that in no way do I need to lecture NYSE on how nasty swan bites can be. I know that I still have much to learn...

Perhaps it is time for us to "open" ourselves to other "interests" and move along the "path" just a little further. Is it worth us turning our discussions to something slightly more "exotic"?

  6. This is the thread that just keeps giving. Have re-read the majority of it for a 2nd time and picked up on an enormous amount of stuff that I missed the first time round.

Dunno what I was thinking when I presumed that NYSE was just pair trading a basket. Clearly not the case. Twas a brief foray back into the realm of idiotdom that I thought I had left behind. Oh well, does one good to slap oneself down as soon as you think you know something...and realise that you don't actually know anything.

Obviously there are a tiny number of insiders out there that actually "know" something and I would imagine they are the ones making the real money in the markets. To that end I would suppose that to genuinely "know" something of value is the true "holy grail" of trading.

  9. This is the age of the internet mate. :) Google is your best friend. You'll learn far more finding the info for yourself than if I try to explain it to you.

  10. On the contrary, it appears to maintain its position despite considerably increased risk - somebody up close with a video camera.

I can only conclude that nyse had cleverly disguised himself, while confounding the bird with another devilish puzzle. :)
