Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

I started a debit position portfolio for long term investing. The ratio defines when to act.

If you like you can find it at ET and learn and follow.

Any particular part to elaborate upon? PRT means Pro Real Time. I can build any screen I like in PRT. They offer good papertrading too for novices. Build every screener you want, only disadvantage is no common screening for NYSE and NASDAQ together.

so another software service..imho..not required.. especially if you are trading the mes and smalls futures..

MT5 is all you need for charting..

IB has good mobile app and excellent Booktrader for daytrading the mes..forget about daytrading the smalls for now..they are swing trades

of course..it all depends on individual.. circumstances..knowledge..experience..and last but not least..capital :)

Frankly I'm not in a good place.

Listening to so-called experts, I stupidly sunk a big chunk of net worth in silver investments back in 2013 and have been in heavy drawdown (mentally as well financially) ever since.

I did consider dumping this in 2019 and switching to bitcoin when it was $4k to try and salvage something from a bad situation. But I just couldn't pull the trigger and stuck with the lousy silver instead. Looking at the price of bitcoin now just makes me even more depressed.

Looking back, I wish I'd stayed well away from financial markets.

I could still sell the silver to raise a bit of capital to trade with but my emotional capital is well and truly spent.

If anyone has a cure for trader depression, please let me know.

    Sorry to hear that man.
    Thanks for your honest story.
Let's hope somebody reveals some more about the Obvious, so we all can get our money back!

the real funny part is that it has already been revealed.. several times..BUT.. unfortunately..only those with enough experience can see what it is..

i could rattle it all off..AGAIN..but it won't make one little bit of difference..as..your HEAD has to be in the right place..and..at the right TIME..

    fwiw..i too was once a monkey..probably even a Gorilla..but i was lucky..as i used..and always use..the ultimate Golden Rule. and that of course is..

never put all your eggs in one basket..or..in this case..all your "bananas" :)

Unfortunately only you yourself can unlock the obvious.
But the first lesson has to be stop listening to the experts. And think for youself.

"it is not the strongest that survives..but the species that can quilcky adapt to change"

    i think it was Darwin?

anyway..the MES is currently the best way for a small account..to make money..by means of low risk trades based on chart reading and time of day..

there you go..all you need now is to DO IT..which is of course the hard bit..

leave the monkey brigade to themselves..ignore all the bull..and just DO what needs to be done..

what also helps is no alcohol..as any chemical that affects the brain is not good..not only in relation to trading..but in relation to your whole life..and believe you me..i know what i am talking about here!!!!

so throw away the bottle..or whatever your silly way of drug taking is..set up MT5 for the ES or MES..open an account with IB..use IB booktrader with volume histogram..on a large monitor in portrait mode..with at least full hd resolution..but qhd to 4k is better..and then..just trade when the TIMES are right..

    simple really :)

    yes and no..

you can listen to someone..PROVIDING..you fully understand but what they are talking about..the associated risks..and the potential rewards..

of course..you still have to follow the golden rule..and also have to "gain" the required experiences..otherwise..as RN would say..

" you might as well be pissing up a rope" :)
