  2. A thousand times better how so?

I use neither, but I would imagine if using a 'naked chart' - most trading software today would be sufficient for the trading style espoused here?

  4. I'm reluctant to post that publicly as I use some stuff that I consider 'secret', but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to share this without further explanation.

PS: I'm considering removing the bottom pane, although it can be helpful at times.

PPS: It seems like the methodology espoused in this thread uses bar charts and I also know that Hershey and his followers swear to those (without ever having seen an explanation for why). Personally, I use and favour candlesticks since they seem to be easier to 'read', but I try to keep an open mind.

secret..that doesn't matter one little bit.. believe me!!!

you see..what one must realize is that you can show people exactly how to make money..but..there is no guarantee that they will actually make any..why.. simple..because..

"there is a big difference between knowing the path..and..walking the path" !!

no disrespect to your layout..but to me it shows you are missing key information..which can be very beneficial when placing trades to open..and..to close!!

MT5 is ideal for this..click click..no messing about..decisions can be made very quickly when required..and if using Amp one can trade directly from the charts or the ladder..of..if using IB the Amp account can also be used to copy the trade to IB..or just send the trade to IB..whichever you want..

i have tried many platforms over the years..Quotetracker..TWS..Ninjatrader..CQG..TD Ameritrade..Datek..Esignal..IG..Cityindex..and more i can't even recall..and i can honestly say that MT5 is the only platform you need to take money from others if trading the ES !

it is simple..easy to setup..reliable..and has a good android app :)

what more does on need..one sure as hell don't need any of the volume and order flow analysis stuff such as touted in Quantower..for..all that stuff does is stops you from looking at what you need to look at :)

  6. Mind me asking what key information that would be...?

I was only showing one of my charts to be fair. I do of course use MTFA and other stuff.

I do trade directly from the charts in Ninjatrader. It's not a perfect platform and I've considered changing many times, but having used it for so long I'm simply used to it, although I'm sure there are better alternatives.

    I'll keep MT5 in mind. :)

i thought i have already gone thru that..in fact..i have specifically told people how i identify trades for LR entries..which are key.. after that what ever happens..happens!!

it really doesn't matter what you show..or don't show others..for..it takes a good while for the reality to sink in..i know..as i have gone thru it..since 1999..and a i know exactly what others will do..and what they will not do..as..it is human nature..and that is why..

"some things never really change" :)

i most certainly don't want to come across as some guru (no offence meant to anyone) but i think that both MT4 and MT5 shine in the fact that they provide all the basics required, including trading from charts without all the complications of trading through a futures platform and/or a broker like IB.Simple is good for most traders that need to concentrate more on the actual trading rather than on complicated platforms.

that is fine..as there really is no such thing as a guru..just another dumb buzz word thrown around by those who make money by throwing OPM around..

i remember years ago when i started out..i was posting on an FX site..and one trader commented on one of my posts..something to the effect..

    keep it simple stupid..KISS

needless to say i was very vocal in my reply..how dare he criticize my beautiful colored charts..with magnificent lines of perfect proportion..

of course..he was 1000% correct..and i was nothing more than an ill informed pleb starting out..on the wrong path of course..in fact..multiple wrong paths!!

not only is TIME a great healer..it is also a great teacher :)

Focus. That is the reason. Candles draw focus to the body of a bar and the colorization. Bar ends are more important than the bar body. Speaking for myself only, I have used OHLC bars since I was born! lol. So that worked just fine for me while learning, right up to current day! I have no plans of changing bar-type. I think I have been using SierraChart about 15 years. Here in 2021, I could be swayed to change platform, but that investigation is not on any active to-do list.
