You know... how many here can say this thread has driven them to try all types of things to change their perspective?

Have you tried looking at a chart backwards, through a mirror?

Not many threads can say they've had people doing that :D

if i remember right..one guy set up a load of monitors so that the charts were rotated to show the weighing scale method..this looks nice..but believe me..it is not the easiest way..

like most..i have done all..if not more..of the stupid and ridiculous things..paid money to dopes for courses..books..live classrooms..became a master at using excel to chart and display data many different ways..auto download open interest data for ES to monitor..and probably stuff that i don't even remember..

today..i use MT5..neutral colors for reasons mentioned..multi time frames for reasons mentioned..2 screens for reasons mentioned (one 32" AOC with 2560 x 1440) and just picked up a very good secondhand lenovo 24" AIO i5 with display port output for my 32" AOC..having said that..my last 15 or 16 trades with MES were all done on my mobile phone..i think the biggest drawdown was around $275 or so..all winners..no losers

i consider mobile phone trading a lot risker..but the truth is..i might not have had all 15 or 16 winners if i had been trading on my PC..wtf :)

  6. Looks red and green to me, i.e., not neutral?

Not being argumentative, but genuinely curious as I've been putting some thought myself into actual coloring of my charts. I do use candles, but want to differentiate between up and down while at the same time not 'too dark' colors on the down bars as I'm training my mind to perceive price movement as neutral.

If trading only 1 MES - a $275 point drawdown would be 55 MES points. That's quite a bit, isn't it?

Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn't exactly consider it an excellent entry.

But maybe that's part of the obvious...?

If you're using wide stops - that would explain the high win rate too.

How much did you make on those last 15-16 trades then?

  7. One curious thing I've noticed in my own trading is how my mind (selectively) filters information. I can consciously know that the odds of a move UP is lower than the odds of a move down. And while the market is feeding me new information which seems to increase the odds of a move down - my mind gets locked down on UP and how there's still a small chance that the market will rally (as it's happened in the past, but less often than the opposite result).

This caused me to lose money today as instead of reversing short around 4220 - I stubbornly continued going long - although I knew the chances were high we'd print 4200 at that point. This behavior is kind of puzzling to me.

It's possible it is influenced by a desire for profit and/or too high leverage. Two elements which both seems to work against profitable trading.

Not sure if this relates to the 'obvious', but maybe in some way.

that is not my pc setup..it is the mt5 app default colors..not trading at the moment so no need to waste time changing things :)

i think i said that a drawdown of $500 is nothing..so half that is not going to bother me :)

it started off as 1 contract and became 2 contracts..

not sure how much was made exactly..will have to check..i do know that the last profit run was about $6,000 but as mentioned will have to check how much the 15 or 16 winners in a row contributed to this..btw..that $6k is now out..in fact..i have €2,200 in my left pocket that i withdraw from the bank today..i will be counting it some time in the near future when another €1,500 is added :)

i couldn't give a pigs arse care what othet "traders" do..or don't do..the only thing i am interested in is counting that money and keeping it safe and secure..of course..in order to keep it you have to make sure that women do not get their hands on it :)

the obvious is something to be "aware" of..this does not imply that one will automatically make money by being aware..one must be "fully aware" of the obvious in order for it to be effective..

if you let things like over trading..wishing..hoping..praying..hesitating.. irrational..erratic..and plain old stupidity..be the order of the day..then..being aware of the obvious will be as much use as good old RN used to say..

    "pissing up a rope"

from your experiences related for today..my assumption is that you do not use MTF in your trading..is this correct or not ?
