Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

    Is the obvious that every trade is just a guess and noone knows which way price will move at any given time so we need to plan for both possibilities either up or down and we need to know what to do in either instance?

    Well FWIW – here’s my stab at it

    THE objects of this course are:

    (3) The arousing of the inward POWER

    (6) The discovery and development of the creative faculty.

    (1) To alter your mental attitude

    Note... 6 and 1 could go either order

    (2) To direct your thoughts into those channels which lead to success, achievement, health, happiness and perfect good;

    (5) The building up of character

    (4) The overcoming of bad habits

    .

    I somehow missed this one.

    (4) The overcoming of bad habits
    (1) To alter your mental attitude
    (6) The discovery and development of the creative faculty.
    (5) The building up of character

    The following would be the RESULT of the previous 4. It's not a step toward a goal; it IS the goal.

    (2) To direct your thoughts into those channels which lead to success, achievement, health, happiness and perfect good;

    RN It looks like we think differently because my list is almost opposite yours. This probably dooms me to some state of ignorance befitting a diaper monkey but what can I say.

    The "obvious" has been articulated
    in succinct and unambiguous terms
    within this thread.

    RM,

    I do not believe this Sir – we are different people – would you not agree.... So our views, and answers, could very well be different and still be correct Sir

    Just as long as they get us to the same point – a positive P&L

    I’ll explain my thinking – NOT to change your mind – but to give you a view into mine

    (3) The arousing of the inward POWER

    To make a change – I believe – a person has absolutely “got to want it” – has absolutely “got to be willing to do whatever it takes to change”.

    So the aroused power is the conviction of doing what it takes, as long as it takes, to facilitate the necessary change

    (6) The discovery and development of the creative faculty.

    To facilitate change – I believe – a person needs to look inward for the answers Sir, and develop the tools and mechanisms to facilitate the necessary change (whatever that change me be)

    Aside – I can no more change you – than you can change me Sir. But maybe we can, through thought provoking conservation, spark an “ah ha” in ourselves, or each other.
    (One of my imperatives is – I can, and am willing to – learn from anyone)

    (1) To alter your mental attitude

    Up to this point we want to change and we’ve identified some possible tools / mechanisms to facilitate that change – so Time to change

    (2) To direct your thoughts into those channels which lead to success, achievement, health, happiness and perfect good;

    I believe to change – you do (2) ,

    BUT merely thinking about it won’t bring about the desired change – so put the ole grey matter to work, come up with a thought, convert that thought it into an action, complete the action, evaluate the result of that action... And be willing to adjust the thought / action sequence as necessary to get the desired result..... Wash – Rinse – Repeat for whatever change you're searching for

    (5) The building up of character

    (4) The overcoming of bad habits

    I believe 5, and 4 are two of the several goals one can attain

    There is my thinking – I wanted to share it – just to share it Sir – not meant as anything else :)

    NY had asked which we thought most important – I think number 3 – because changing is hard – I believe (and based on my experience of changing)

    So to change - I had to want it more than - I wanted to hold on to my old way of thinking / believing / doing

    I had to be committed to doing whatever it took (and believe me some of the things I did to facilitate changing would be viewed as radical to most) but I did them

    To start changing - I had to arouse the power within me to want to change, commit to change, and change.

    Then when it didn’t take the first (or second, or third, ect…time) I had to figure out why... then do it over again – till it stuck – and the change became me / I became it.... It is who I am… It is how I trade

    Each person’s mileage may very of course:)

    If I might be so bold as to ask, what radical things did you do to facilitate change?
